Or... you could add some paint drips & runs and call it good enough.

Viva La DKS. Thanks a million for the millionth time.

My luck did keep going though. I printed this sign 7 times and 4 of those times it was glued to the building when it went bad and got ripped off. Twice I ruined it in my hands. See I didn't want to just glue it on, I wanted it to look painted onto the boards. A lot of the black kept rubbing off so I touched it all up with a fine brush. Right above and below the sign the wall looks a little extra worn because of me scrubbing the glue off each time.

Just letting it sit and have the glue set a little was the key, but I have to have it done NOW...

Looks great Chris.  You might consider distressing the rest of the wall to blend with the area around the sign.  It would look very authentic.

Excellent. Glad I could help! I might lightly brush on some white chalk dust to make streaks below the lettering... or not.

Edit: Do you have white decal paper? It works really well for a painted-on look, although you'd need to seal it with clear matte spray to prevent the black from flaking off before applying it to the building.

Ehh it already on and I'm happy with it. About the weathering that would be hard to match. The whole building was a wood tan color and then washed the barn red very thin. The sign is BAM solid black so needed to be reverse weathered from the rest of the building. I masked off the sign and weathered it from the rest of the building.

I took a much simpler approach to the building next door. Just used decals.

The idea for the HAY & STRAW came from this:

And some overall shots:

And around the other side of the layout:

And finally slapped some initial color on this dump tipple.

Sharp eyes will notice the bell on the roof of the feed mill.  :)

Chris,

Everything looks great, the layout is really coming along, I don't know how all you guys work so fast.

There's a prototype for everything.
If you can't make it perfect, make it adjustable.

Your work is one of the inspirations that's sent me back to the drawing board so many times on my HCD design.  Thanks for that.

The proceedings proceeding this evening:
Lots of tipples had a way to extend the chute so waste tailings could be dumped.

Then I poured some water:

Just a thin coat that I will build up with gloss gel.

Meanwhile back in town all the buildings have been removed for ballast. With my trusty clip on fan drying things for me.

Some dry stuff.
