I'll just throw this out there. If you don't like dcc because knowing what button does what is daunting then the ESU Cab Control system is for you. The mobile control 2 handheld has icons on the touch screen instead of a button with a number you have to memorize.

Chris,

I was asking about DCC because I'm about to delve into that world for the first time myself.  If the sound problem you experienced was after replacing the speaker, it may be because the encoder requires a certain impedance value for the speaker.  I know tsunami's have specific requirements and yours may also.  As for all the buttons, you don't have to use them all, frankly I don't see myself using anything besides the chuff sound and the whistle. (gotta be able to whistle off)  Anyway it's your layout, do what makes you happy, and it's looking great btw.

Scott

Reading Chris' problem description he states that all the sounds except the chuffs and bell are working fine (so the speaker is likely ok).  Still, sound decoders do require some fussing around with (setting individual sound volumes, etc.) and are not totally immune to getting scrambled from time to time.

I also agree that there is no need to  have 28 buttons and a dozen different sounds on the throttle.  That is absolutely crazy, and I doubt that anybody actually uses all of them during regular operating session.  Some of the sounds are gimmicky, crammed in there just to  make sure that every function has something assigned to it. Bell and whistle are really the 2 most needed, but couple more sounds do come in handy. But not a dozen or morel.

Excellent!
Don't forget to touch up the tops of the stake pockets with the car color.
I think that'll really make the car pop even more.

It ain't easy being green.

Slowly populating with trees. I find after plopping big trees I do a lot of filling in with small trees and even tree pieces to re-shape other trees. Sort of pile trees on top of trees.  :)  You can see my fan helping dry things cause ain't nobody got time.

Have to hide this road into the backdrop:

And this creek (could it be "Mill" creek? )

So this is my life:

Look for a sign "LUMBER" to slap up on a building.

Find the perfect sign:

Put it into AutoCAD to trace it and fix that it's leaning:

Print it out and I hate it:

Any of these do it for you? I can export to higher res, or as a vector file.

Chris,

While it's probably too late, I think the problem is that you omitted the serifs on the letters, i.e., the little strokes at the end of each letter.  They are not just plain block letters.

If it helps, I think that the middle choice in DKS's post would also work well in your application.
