Starting to carve away and build up the waterfall area and figured I'd post my theme music:

I visit this place many times a year and always imagine a railroad running through the whole park. It also happens to be "Mill Creek". There were a few mills like this, but this one is the only thing left. In fact this mill is the 2nd one at this location and has been rebuilt a few years back. There is a large water wheel in the basement.

I like the undercut behind the and to the right of the falls.

The internet says the falls are 15' tall and so are mine.

So I had to make brake waters out of poured concrete using wood forms. I lined the inside of Legos with wood strips.




Bents are just sitting here loose:


I have a lot more work to get the rocks right before mounting the bents right in my way. But it is nice to have them made to see where they land.

So after bashing the crap out of that Atlas water tank I didn't think the roof looked right. I checked photos of the Waynesburg & Washington and their water towers did have tall sectioned roofs, but the Ohio River and Western didn't. They were flat.

I pull the roof off and added boards:

I took a bunch of photos of this area, but for right now it looks all washed out till I get it painted. Trying to interlock rock work with the trestle bents. And a fan so the Sculptamold will be dry tomorrow.

What did you use for the abutment? Looks real nice.

It is poured out of plaster. A couple posts up there are photos of the mold.

The cut stone abutment? I did not mean under the trestle bents. I searched up thread and did not see any reference to a material or product used for the cut stone portion. Looks great..

Oh on the left?  That is a Chooch HO (medium) sea wall that was cut up, edges beveled, and super glued back together.

Since I mention the Mann's Creek RR so much and because I was bored. I did this little map of the railroad based on the book I have. Besides many coal mines they also had lots of logging and a large sawmill.

These is no way I could have drawn all the logging lines so these are just the "main" tracks. Later on a standard gauge RR entered the area and there was a crossing near Clifftop. The railroad moved coal down to the River where there were coke ovens along the C&O. They started strip mining and later on trucks took over dumping into the same chute that the railroad did.

The first 2 locos were 0-6-0's in 1886. In 1909 they bought 2 Climaxes followed by 3 more. 1918 they got a shay and later 4 more shays. In 1955 3 months after the RR shut down there was a railfan trip. It was the last run. So for almost 70 years it stayed narrow gauge. The whole area is park land now and much of the old roadbed is trails now.
