Broadway Limited New York Central/ Norfolk & Western Hoppers

BLI released their Norfolk & Western N2a hoppers a couple years ago. I have yet to see any information on when any of the leases of these hoppers happened other than the PRR version. I have seen a photo of the B&O leased hoppers. They were an older variant, N2 or N1 class. With that being said, does anyone know when the NYC hoppers were leased?

These are N&W H2a. I think the B&O were H2 or H3, which were visually almost identical.

Not aware of any leases to NYC, will check later.

These are N&W H2a. I think the B&O were H2 or H3, which were visually almost identical.

Not aware of any leases to NYC, will check later.

According to Andrew Dow's N&W book, negotiations were entered into with both Illinois Central and B&O to lease N&W H3 hoppers, but the leases never happened.

NADA (nothing) on any NYC leases.

Thanks for the replies. I did a search on here and also online but couldn't find any information about these leases. In the book Pennsylvania Railroad Steel Open Hopper Cars by John Teichmoeller, there are three pictures of the B&O leased H3 Hoppers in the PRR lease section. It also mentioned that Wabash did buy some and that there was the possibility of IC and W&LE leasing some. I had thought about getting a set of the NYC but I think my money would be better spent else where.

I am aware of B&O leasing some ex-N&W 2 bay hoppers but have never seen these photos in the PRR book. :D

Will have to take a look if I ever get the chance. Thanks!

The two sizes of N&W lettering, PRR, B&O, IC and Wabash are confirmed legit schemes as these roads had N&W twin hoppers of H2a or related classes.
The other road names are stand-ins and are apparently popular as they have been rerun in both HO and N with additional road numbers!

Did you find photos of the IC? I know N&W did the lettering diagrams.

Yes I did.  Not great a photo but enough to confirm the car and do the artwork for the IC car.
It is actually easier in some ways to do legit road names if you have the photos.
To do a reasonable stand in I still have to look up what cars are fairly close, usually avoid actual series numbers but use something logical like next higher, and try to fit the lettering and paint to the car so it looks plausible.   It would be easier to do a Tyco or Model Power and spit out something like a blue Santa Fe boxcar......
.....but sometimes I do get to have fun like the Rio Grande Trailways "Goose" or the School Bus version in On2 1/2!
......hmmm.....maybe I should propose a Warbonnet T1.....based on my observation that anything in that scheme sells I bet they would!!!!
