Sorry for the blurry pic, hand-held camera...

Working on the Oxnard Hotel. looks like the street sweeper is asleep on the job!!

Thanks,
Wolf

Wolf, again GREAT progress! Oxnard, one of our (my wife's & my) favorite places on the Coast Line. Had some of the BEST strawberries ever passing through Oxnard on one of our trips to San Luis Obispo.  :D

Making good progress on hanging my 75' worth of backdrops.  The panos were from two trips I took to Oregon Joint Line territory over the past few years which I had printed up by Trainjunkies.com.  Of course there are always the unforeseen challenges that pop up with a project of this size, but I was truly lucky that (for whatever reason) I left a slight gap between the plywood layout surface and the backdrop Masonite when I installed it several years ago.  This allowed me to slide the bottom of the pano prints right into the gap and handle the installation without help.  Because I don't know how long I might stay in this home (could be 1 year, could be 20 years...) I didn't glue the new backdrops down in case I wanted to reuse them on a future layout.  They're held in at the bottom by the layout surface, and at the top by one inch pieces of heavy duty double-sided tape spaced about one foot apart.

I finished a PRR F3A + F3B set. The A unit started as a Kato CB&Q F3, and got a nose job to change the number boards. Partly through decalling, I realized there were no dynamic brakes on the A unit, creating a small market for 3D dynamic brake decals!   One more F3A is still in the shop.

Very nice work. I'm not a Pennsy modeller but I would love to see any in progress shits and heat more about those dynamic break decals. Can you elaborate there?

Worked a bit on my Royal American Shows train this weekend.  Got all the journal boxes painted yellow to match the prototypes, swapped out the couplers with 905's, and put FVM metal wheels on them as well.  I thought this car was a foobie until I found a prototype photo.  The door arrangement isn't even close, but the paint job is pretty close.  i changed out the 6 wheel trucks with some 4 wheel express trucks; looks a bit closer now.

Also worked on making the wagons more correct.  MT used the modern RBBB tunnel car wagons for their artwork; the wheels are not correct for the period of the train.  I figured the artwork was too nice to waste so I carved off the molded on wheels and added metal fifth-wheel bogie wheels.  Look much better now.  I bought a bunch of the undec wagons when they were released and I'll do the same to them when I get time.  Decals are on the way via a vendor on ebay.

A couple of photos of one of the Pullmans.  I also painted the decks of the flats a wood color; need to make it a bit darker yet. [ Guests cannot view attachments ] [ Guests cannot view attachments ] [ Guests cannot view attachments ]

How can you tell if the valve timing in your steam engine is correct?  With one of these.

Nice work on the wagons Nate!  Will you be attending the N-Scale convention in Pittsburgh?

Not this year - I think the last N-Scale convention I attended was in Milwaukee a few years back.

We'll have the layout at the Prototype Modelers Meet in St. Louis in June.  :)

Uhhhhmmm...

Hmm... Kiz doesn't have
a clue what you're
talking about...

Two scientists create a teleportation ray, and they try it out on a cricket. They put the cricket on one of the two teleportation pads in the room, and they turn the ray on.
The cricket jumps across the room onto the other pad.

I knocked a couple of decal jobs out of the way this weekend.  Up first was a set of NS hoppers.  I had 5 undec coal hoppers that I had tried unloading at a show and on eBay, all the while looking for more NS hoppers.  Then I realized you  :ashat: , do them yourself with the undec hoppers you already have.  So I ordered 2 sets of NS hopper decals from Shellscale and got this.

I also finished a second ADM corn syrup car.  Here is a shot of 3 of them, a faded and weathered version I did, the Atlas stock model, and a newly shopped/painted still shiny version I did last month.

Nice work everyone!

We moved into our new home  (well, new to us). No modeling work for me for the coming weeks / months as we work on updates to the new place, but it sure is nice having access to my library again...

The new train room is approximately 11' x 18' with limitations - specifically, access to closets which are at the opposite end of the room from the entrance.
