Come on, @Philip H , any modeler worth his salt can kitbash that HO warehouse out of either the Cape Cod or Ranch houses or a modern Dairy Queen building.

Peter has a point, only that building is the beginner's dream of a scratchbuild opportunity. Some styrene scribed with expansion lines, add some truck door moldings and modern storefront doors/window moldings (both available and easiest enough to make if you're too lazy to find the castings at your (r)etailer), some styrene rob or tube for your cooling piping, and then glue it all up. Frankly, anyone that pays $60 for that kit should have their NMRA card revoked.

yes, yes you can kitbash or scratch build it.  And Yes Walther's will likely turn a deaf ear to all our N scale whinning.  That said as I prepare to embark on a new layout - I want a couple of buildings like this, and a commercially available kit has some time savings built in to it.  That's important to me these days.

   I assumed you would do the reverse wit the C&S against your new layout - with the G scale i=on a trestle in the middle of the room!

I agree with Philip about the need for buildings like this in N scale. I wasn't bashing him for hoping against hope Walthers would suddenly turn over a new N scale leaf. I don't understand their decision making about kit offerings in N to offer what they have in the last year, but not an N scale version of either of these.

To me kits are a starting point. I don't want my kits to look exactly like the picture on the box.  This is one reason that I hate built-ups.

As for Wally - structures are where Wally excels (even though they are criminally neglecting unimaginable amounts of N scale loco and passenger car tooling). Maybe this kit will eventually trickle down.

But back to what Ed said - that building would not be a horribly difficult Evergreen sheet project.

Walthers would sell more kits if it would reasonably price them. Seriously, $60 for a small plastic box on 8 sprues? Probably all of $3 in plastic there and $1.00 tops in packaging.
