Wow, April already.

Hmm... seems like only
four months ago that
the new year started...

Two scientists create a teleportation ray, and they try it out on a cricket. They put the cricket on one of the two teleportation pads in the room, and they turn the ray on.
The cricket jumps across the room onto the other pad.
"It works! It works!"

Wolf - Love the feel of the Central Valley SP and the open expanse. Selective
Compression in scale modeling is overrated. My oil complex is so tightly packed.
I only have 2x4 and should only be trying for a tank and a rack. But you know we
want to squeeze everything in.

Chuck,

I know exactly what you mean. Valley Oil was an after thought. I had a bit of room - and, figured why not. Seems to work.

I like the look of yours - by the way.

The nice thing about bulk oil distributors -- they don't need a lot of real estate.

About 17 years after purchase, the final three 70' Wheels of Time baggage-mail and baggage-express cars were finally finished. They only have traveled a few feet on the layout, but have a couple thousand miles on them as these were worked on many moons on numerous work trips... Another of my long-drawn out projects of a few years ago poses with them ...a dynamic-brake equipped SW-8. I still haven't recovered from the umpteen pieces of tiger-stripe decals needed for this!  :scared:

I was having a heckuva time trying to make the plastic roof that comes with the Rico station kit look like shingles...but eventually I realized it wasn't a color problem but rather a texture problem. The molded shingles look more like slates than shingles so I decided to roll it old school with Campbell shingles glued directly on top.

The small roof piece has some stain on it...but not sure it's the final color yet.  The big piece has no stain yet.

Messed around with weathering a Atlas Trainman Double Door boxcar. I also replaced the roofwalk with a much thinner profile MT roofwalk and put FRV metal wheels on it. Internally, I added a little weight.

Got the other two spans of the West Hickory Bridge finished, loose fit on the piers and abutments.

Got the skyboard cut (T-trak standard measurements) and painted.

Did the first 'rough draft' test of the photo backdrop elements test printed on regular paper and put together.   This is the first photo test.  This is the view standing on the current highway bridge looking upstream, so this 'is the place'.

That's kind of what I meant by the inspiration by Jerry Britton.  It looks 'almost' as good as his Shermans Creek Bridge at Duncannon.   I don't know that I'll hit the mark, but I have to give him credit for the idea here.   http://kc.pennsyrr.com/photos/01501/01598_m.jpg

What was supposed to be decaling weekend turned into structure weekend.

First up was Medford Trains Western Maryland Station.  It's just about right for the structure in Hampstead.  Anyone up for making two signs for the ends that say HAMPSTEAD ?

And today I cut some ply, and skinned it with brick sheet for the warehouse in Spring Grove.

More research here ....

First stop - on Friday, a to visit an awesome hidden gem, the Museum of Craftsmanship in Vista CA, started by the late founder of Sherline, Joe Martin.  You find yourself in San Diego?  After you visit our Model Railroad Museum or some of our clubs, but sure to stop be here too...   http://www.craftsmanshipmuseum.com/

Then it was up to Upland, CA to meet with the guys at the N-land Pacific Free-MoN group and get some practical advice on my next modular layout and for bringing their version of the standard to San Diego.

Finally, a pop into the San Bernardino Santa Fe Depot to pick up some more docs and building diagram.  Other than this, busy doing photoetch brass design and brenchwork but hoping to get some actual modeling in soon.
