Got my first three 4'x18" modules hung.  I'm terrible at carpentry so I cheated and had someone make them for me.  They're hung by a cleat at the top, and they're really light.  Can be easily removed to work on.  Just trying to finalise the track plan now!

Spades:  Those aren't hydrogen tanks, or they wouldn't have a green (non-flammable) placard.

Green placard is Oxygen.

I wanted at least one structure on my shelf layout, so I built this battered shed.

More pictures and a build description in my layout thread https://www.therailwire.net/forum/index.php?topic=36450.msg518623#msg518623.

Starting to hang the larger backdrops I had printed by TrainJunkies.com.  I'm not sure how long before the layout will be dismantled - it could be one year or it could be 20 years - so I didn't want to permanently mount the backdrop photos on the Masonite with glue in the hopes that it could be used again on another future layout (75' worth of backdrops was a bit pricey!).  I fortunately left small gaps between the Masonite and the plywood layout surface so the bottom of the backdrop could be tucked in.  At the top I'm just using a small piece of double sided tape every foot or so.  The longest scene is 25 feet - a bitch to handle by myself, but I wrassled it into submission somehow.

In this scene the Oregon & Northeastern Logger has just cleared the Automatic Interlocking with the Oregon Joint Line at O&NE Xing.

The good thing , and the reason I thought the old helium tanks would be of interest is that you folks that model modern eras could easily bash these for near nothing and little effort . No repainting required to get a passable model .

Green placard is Oxygen.

A green placard is a class 2.2 non flamable gas.

Oxygen would have a yellow placard since it is an oxidizer.
Although in some forms it could have a green 2.2 placard.

The cars in the original post were helium cars.

I was able to snatch a set of Kobo Caltrain Commuters and picked up an F40PH to go with.  I'll be soundifying this once the ESU LokSound arrives.  I may even add sound to the cab car for Northbound service!

Other project for the week is a few Turbine Nacelles.  I experimented with one in Denver using the CGNS Turbine Blades, which turned out to be quite popular so we're adding 4 more.  I'm pretty excited to show off the way I'm mounting these, but gotta get there first.

That would be like a bomb waiting to go off.  Remember Apollo 13?

Ed

Which you want in rocket fuel.  Space X uses  Kerosene-based, using RP-1 as the fuel with liquid oxygen (LOX) as the oxidizer, https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/SpaceX_rocket_engines  If you want to light off anything in space you have to bring oxgen

When did you install the interlocking signals? No more broadsiding opposing trains.  :D The backdrop looks great. .

Made a little more progress on the layout and had a ride along on the industrial park job this week.

The turbines are neat. Do you have pic of the finished product?

The signals are installed but they were purchased back when the Century Foundry signals were set up for fiber optics.  I'm not real happy with the results (too dim) so eventually they'll be replaced with ones using the Richmond Control micro-LED's.  The other issue I'm having is that I'm using the Iowa Scaled Engineering Interlocking in a Box with infrared sensors.  The blocks will clear when triggered but then quickly drop to red without any additional input.  I triple checked the wiring and everything looked okay.  Finally one night I turned out the lights to see how the signals looked in the dark and suddenly the interlocking was working exactly as advertised.  So apparently the lights are somehow interfering with the sensors or circuitry.  I checked with the Iowa guys and they were stumped.

They could be several products. I could receive HCl in tanks like those. If I remember correctly, it was at 3600 PSI.
