Egads!!!! The Conrail dude even has Conrail brushes .    the blues are everywhere....... blue bands, blue letters  blue everywhere......      sigh----- what did that poor used pennsy NW2 do to deserve this.

Couldn't be Conrail brushes... If they were, half of the bristles would be pulled from each brush after being judged unnecessary and the oldest brushes would be tossed out in the middle of the night so no one else could use them.

I like it!.The one thing that still sticks out to me is the stacks..I think some black chalk maybe?..They look brush painted to me, while the rest of the loco does not. I had a loco with the same issue, and some black chalk helped  cover it up.

I love the tarp.

Would you consider putting in some MT N or even Z scale body-mount couplers?   The ones that are in there look kind of big to me.

The paint job came out good.   Nobody would ever know or care that it's brush painted.

I looked at the photos again again and it is the Kato coupler. Those have fairly realistic-looking top detail and the weathering makes it look even better. But is quite large (however, nowhere as large as McHenry or Bachmann boxing-glove).

Yep, it's the Kato coupler.

Here it is compared with a regular MTL knuckle.



And here it is compared with a 905 (or whatever they are now).

Okay, now I see, Ed.  What do you think about putting a 905 in there?  I'm only suggesting this because you put a lot of time into repainting and detailing this thing, and the coupler would be a really nice touch.

I've thought about it, but given the work this thing will be doing, I think I'm going to need to make sure to balance appearance and operation. So, I think I might want to give it some time to see if the Kato coupler is fine, or if I should replace it with an MTL, and if so, which one.

I think one thing I can do though is hit it with a darker brown so it's not so contrasty and obvious.
