Great job on upgrading a factory painted loco! I tried that once and decided it was easier just to strip it and repaint after the mess I made removing grabs and such.

Well, that is a good question that I cannot answer. The build and new dates on the car are 2/37, so I guess I assumed it was probably ok for the fifties?

I know very little about things Virginian!

I've been working on this factory-decorated Atlas N scale SP GP9 and added SP light packages to both ends as well as BLMA 15" drop grabs. I also finished installing a LokSound Select Micro decoder in it today with the EMD 16cyl 567BC (FT) sound file, which sounds great. The unit has functioning headlight and gyralight effects on both ends....

If my math is right, a 52 inch curve in N is 8.3 degrees on the prototype, sharper than they like, but well within mainline standards.   Nice to see one on a model railroad.

More progress on the yard at Dawson Creek today, with the spur into Alberta Wheat Pool and the two ramp tracks now laid:




My attention now turns to the elevator track on the far side of the yard, which will terminate just past the grain bins at left.

I totally agree.  I always thought Kodachrome wasn't a bad paint scheme.

Now you need to make it more SP, REALLY dirty!

Thanks, Ryan! Yes, I've seen the 2873 at Portola and I hope to get a chance to run it there someday.

Agreed... the road weathering is wonderful, as are the roadway proportions. Balance between scale compression and accurate appearance is a trouble spot for a lot of modelers. Wolf's work should be a guide for doing it right. The oily streak from vehicles pulling away from right turns at the stop sign is especially astute.

Casa Grande is not really near a “local” hobby store. I sometimes have to improvise with my supplies. Getting styrene is not always the easiest thing. I wound up going to Lowes and buying a large “No Parking” sign. I shot it with automotive primer to make it look like aged asphalt.

I still need to stripe it and mount it to the layout.

Thank you, so very much. I work real hard at trying to make my scenes look as realistic as possible. I have more work to do on this PMT terminal. Detailing the tractor garage, safety posts around the fuel pumps, signs and different types of trailers and tractors. Looking to add bobtail trucks as well.

I set these scene pre 1955.
