One of four weathered N scale MTL cars I got this week.Don't know if I am keeping the graffiti like this but have not made a decision yet. The other cars are the runner pack of HS boxcars.

For those who normally don't follow the frequently pedantic and obtuse GC&W layout thread and with good reason , I've been throwing down track like a madman the past couple of weeks. Video of the first train down a major LDE yesterday:

I have always thought that the MT round roof cars were kind interesting, so I dug this out of storage and painted the roof and ends black per the prototype. It gives a nice contrast in a train of 40' cars.

Yeah, it was odd how you had the ability to upload avatar photos while other members (like me) did not.

And I fixed couple of sick electric motors for my Railwire friends.

Now that I've completed fascia installation/painting (except for the small section at Monolith where I haven't decided quite what I'm going to do yet), backdrop seam finishing/painting, and lower-level LED lighting, I'm comfortable adding all three things to the list of reasons I'll never build another layout. Whatever person started the rumor that model railroading is "fun" obviously delegated these tasks out to someone else.

That said, I'm happy with the way it all turned out.

Glad to see you back Chris! Yes, there is a lot of drudgery involved .... but in the end it's all worth it... right? Right?

During this past week I was able to get the tracks for the west half of the yard at Dawson Creek laid.  This included cutting track, marking and drilling holes for turnout throw wires and feeder wires, and gluing down the track.  From R to L:  main track, siding 1, 2 and 3, runaround track, and elevator lead:




The next step is to lay the tracks into the trailer ramp and over to the Alberta Wheat Pool elevator.  Work Extra 632 has arrived with a supply of ties and rail for that purpose:
