Doodling out the benchwork plan.  Not a finished product but farther than I’ve gotten with either this project or an expanded Juniata Division!  I still have to figure out the cutaway for a 1’ tall representation of RGS Bridge 45A.  The scenic base will be 4” of Styrofoam based on the other requirements for below-track scenery (primarily at Ophir for the station scene on a cliff edge and Bridge 45B).  If I have room on the inside of the smaller lobe I may represent one of the smaller trestles in the milepost 46 series, but not the big ones.

L-girders will be 1x3 with 1x2 cap.  1x2 joists with very thin plywood atop that capped with 4” of foam.  Fascia will be 1/8” Masonite which means I’ll need 2x2 “cube” cleats at the end of the joists.  2x2 legs braced with 1x2 truss.  I have leveling feet en route from Amazon.

3-day weekend ahead!  One day will be for skiing but the other two...well, let’s just say there’s a trip to Lowes or Home Depot in there somewhere!

Good to see your moving forward Dave. We are still sorting out stuff from our move into our new house and trying to clear out the garage so I can begin to think about my new HOn3 D&RGW RR. Track, turnout material and new NCE DCC 5 amp radio system all winging their way here to OZ so hopefully they all arrive soon. Its cost a bundle and some for freight, could have purchased another loco it's cost that much.

Will you be able to sneak the Tesla/ Ames Hydro plant in there near Ophir?   Very historical and still in use.  A neat little stone structure if my memory is correct. 8)

Only 27 pages to get to a track plan! Nice.

Just get started before you talk to any more doctors.

LOL to all...  The Ames plant is very interesting but would be a space hog.

Was going to tackle benchwork this weekend but doctor's orders to take it easy.  So my train time will be dedicated to kitbashing the Pro Patria Mill at Rico as my Railwire modeling contest entry.

L-girders will be 1x3 with 1x2 cap.
Be sure to post a photo of yourself swinging from those L-girders, just as David Popp does in the February 2018 MR:

Hasn't @tom mann been trying to get him to join up here for several years?

I wonder what would happen if you did this with Ed K's work?

Considering that I built what’s under the old Hagerstown yard section you’d need elephants with hydraulic presses to do it damage.
