Really nice.

What I find really helpful is when the Tamiya Color ID is noted.  Would like to know which white and which black numbers if possible.  There are so many Tamiya colors available...
Thanks lads. The Tamiya white is Flat White XF-2 the Tamiya Panel line Accent Color is Just that. I found out about the Panel line paint through some military modelers. It really is good. I did not stir the bottle just used the top stuff so be very careful as the pigment settles and it can be very BLACK. You can obtain the same results using Black ink in a Iso mix.
There are a few colours in the Accent paint scheme Brown and Dark Brown which I will use to add rust to the head of the bolts and general weathering when the out side is painted.
I'm in the middle of another kit with similar treatment which I will post tomorrow.
We are in for a huge rain storm here in Victoria today 100 to 250mm of rain over 2 days.
I'm not going anywhere.

It’s been very dry and mild here in Colorado. It’s starting to look like we may get some snow next week though. We’ve already had a couple a very brief snow events, but the mountains need more snow for the ski resorts.  Mild by Colorado standards anyway.

Thank you I had never heard of the Panel line paint.  I really like Tamiya products.

The images below are for the third Durango Press Gon kit that I have just started.
The first I did was a pipe gon and the one yesterday was a standard high sided version.
To make this high sided gon look a little more battered I took my flush cutting pliers and hacked away along the top edge of some of the top boards.
Then treated the aged timber on this one in the same fashion as the latter with one addition.
I took the Brown Panel Line Accent Colour and with just a hint of color let it run down over the bolt area behind each timber upright.
I then added more brown to the gouge marks on the timbers themselves.
I am happy with the look thus far.

I found out about the white paint and india ink wash on a site quite a few years ago when I was building my now fallen flag Lost Creek On30 RR so it is not mine to claim.

I do like the way the larger scales lend themselves to this level of detail.

Built a 1' x 3' test diorama in HOn3...

I wanted something for photographing models, but also to see if I could do scenery in HO.  The glue is actually still wet here but I think it looks okay.

I’d say your scenic abilities are intact. Your weathering ethos seems to have flagged a bit on that loco

Two more...  This is the look I'm hoping to achieve on the actual layout either side of Lizard Head.

None of the motive power has been weathered yet, @Philip H ...!

“The house at the end of the trestle.” This house sat at the end of bridge 45A at Ophir. I scratchbuilt this house sometime between 1990 and 1992 while I was still in high school. I had no plans and relied solely on pictures from Silver San Juan by Mallory Hope Ferrell. The window arrangement is a bit off, but it still looks the part. I made the corrugated metal roof from aluminum foil impressed against a plastic master using balsa wood. It may not be as accurate as the Banta kit but I plan to use it anyway out of nostalgia.

RGS #25. Class T-19 by D&RGW reckoning, she was built by Schenectady Locomotive Works in 1899 for the Florence & Cripple Creek Railway. When Phantom Canyon flooded out one too many times, the F&CC went under and the 25 and two of her sisters were sold to the Rio Grande Southern. #25 served until 1940 when she was cannibalized to keep her sisters running. #22 was scrapped during the war but #20 survived (with #25’s tender) and is today being restored for operation by the Colorado Railroad Museum and the Strasbourg Rail Road of Pennsylvania. My father bought this fine brass model of #25 two and a half decades ago...he and I were semi-seriously planning an HOn3 layout based on the RGS and the D&RGW Silverton Branch at the time. She’s a little tarnished but still beautiful. My parents just sent her to me and I think she’ll finally get a chance to go to work...after painting and DCC conversion of course.

Thanks Otto we survived the rain and subsequent flooding in some parts.
Dave she looks very nice. Should look neat once painted and sound even better with a decoder.

I know nothing about that loco, but guess like all old brass, the pick-ups suck. See if Blackstone tender trucks pick up power.

And you can add wipers to the bottom plate/gear cover to get the other side of the drivers picking up as well.

Over the holiday break I’ll test her out on an HOn3 loop.  She probably needs lubrication but if she’ll be painted I don’t want her greasy.  We’ll see.  I can also look into the Blackstone trucks.
