For heaven's sake Dave, if you're going to draw 1/2" = 1', get some Quad Ruled paper.  :P

Jason

It's engineering graph paper...  I'm just manipulating the image to pop out the trackplan.

I see that, but you're using paper that marked 5 squares per inch.  If you got quad paper (4 squares per inch) you would save some headache and extra work.

That's a fever no shot will cure. The only cure is more narrow gauge!

I was in remission for two decades...but narrow gauge fever has no permanent cure.   :D

I found this on the Interwebs... Don't get wrapped up around the specific track arrangement, but rather the shape and general flow of the main:

It would make a decent starting point.

I like it. Except for the specific track arrangements.  :P

The aisle is really tight.  Too tight, in my opinion.

I have an additional 2 feet to throw at that aisle, remember.

In both directions?

In both directions?

I thought you just meant the pinch point where the guy in the upper left is standing.

Seriously, don't get wrapped up on the exact plan.  I know it's hard for me to verbally describe what's in my head...it's similar but a little bit different.  I'm just really liking the overall shape of the layout and how something similar gives me:

1)  A longer run
2)  A perfect little alcove for the Ophir Loop
3)  Less hidden trackage
4)  Grades that can be used to enhance operation (helpers on long trains, etc) and that go in the correct direction for the RGS
5)  Room for Placerville, Ophir, Lizard Head, and Rico

I will play with this a bit later and see if I can't also add some Ridgway/Durango staging in the mech room.  This is the week of the big move so I probably won't get to it.

No. Avoid the cliche over under situations.

The track above the tunnel entrance has been done to death and screams "model train". It might've happened, but it always looks like a compromise on reality to fit in more crap.

Put a trestle where the breaker box is and lower track dissappears behind it. That's if you want Ed to aprove.

Wait we're getting specific about track arrangements
