MILW.  If I bought all three, I could have the MILW's entire fleet of these...

Here's an H54A fresh off the line at Butler PA.  Theses have the taller end sill above the coupler.

Sounds like I'm gonna have to sell my soul yet again.  And right before the Dash-2's in blue are said to be arriving.  I'm going to need a bigger layout for all of this.

Nice.  Do we know if these will have body-mount couplers?

That would be nice ...  I've sworn off truck-mounted couplers on new car purchases and I'm getting lazier about doing conversions for the cars I have.

These aren't arriving til 1Q 2018 2019 2020 (no.. its 2018) still plenty of time to save pennies..
.. Although we haven't accounted for the 6 subsequent announcements coming between now and the release date of the first run..

I assume so - the recent new tooling from IM has had body mounts. We need to confirm this with Intermountain though - I'll shoot an email to them when I get a chance.

These and the ACF 2927s - good times for covered hoppers! :D

Mark,

I've been out of the IM loop for a bit. Which recent units have had body-mounted couplers? I would buy those.

Mark,

The bulkhead flat (great model btw) is the most recent tooling I have and it has body mounted couplers. The 60 foot and 53' flats do as well.

They also quietly added body mounted couplers to recent runs of the 1937 Boxcar.

I just got a response from Intermountain and they intend to body mount couplers on both the ACF 2927 and the PS4785. Hopefully intent will be reality. 8)

I totally missed the SSW and Golden West Service announcement (even the link in the thread, thank you for that). Maybe this photo can be added to the original post?
Looks like a nice car, will get each of the Golden West Service reporting marks: CRLE, GVSR, KCS plus a Cotton Belt.

I like that they provided the date for each car.  It's likely that the only one I will buy is a MILW car, as the others appeared rarely, if ever, in the early 70s Northwest, but at least I can see which ones MIGHT have been there.

I received this email today from Intermountain regarding couplers:

"It is our intent to have body mounted couplers on the 4785's.

The cars that we have recently produced that also have body mounted couplers are the 70 ton flat car, the 8000 gallon tank car we are delivering now, and the reefers due in a couple months."

Yep!
I'm stoked about these. It's gonna be expensive when they show up.

On the bright side, you have three years to develop the savings plan for them though....    :ashat:  :D

Yes, I appreciate having the date information also.
