I finished up a trio of L&N locomotives. I detailed and repainted a pair of Alco C628's, opting for a later version of the scheme than Atlas' as-delivered version. I also repainted one of the Arnold U25C's into a late L&N scheme. The factory paint had to go, since it was way too light for L&N gray. Hopefully, I'll get around to updating the lighting next week, so the headlight is in the nose, and the cab headlight will be a working Gyralight.

Those L&N units are fantastic, along with all the weathered autoparts cars and autoracks. 8)

Richie, When I've done mountains before I used to lighty mist white on the ones further back. Now a days I think I'd take something like your photo. Print and paste onto the backdrop then blend ot all in.

Just the other side of my door layout

I was able to add 48x20" rolling stock drawers to each side of the layout.

"Just" he says...    :facepalm:

That is a super cool way to store the fleet. Nice work.

I was looking for Chris to show how he constructed the drawer support and guides when I saw them in his LER thread. How about a picture of the undersides of the assembly?

I'm curious about the padding design he uses to keep cars from sliding around or tipping without damaging those MTL Delrin rungs.

I bought the drawer guides at Home Depot a few years ago. The guide "support" is just a 1x2 on each side of the drawer that is spaced 1/2" away and screwed to the bottom of the layout. The guides look just like these:
http://www.homedepot.com/p/Prime-Line-20-in-White-Bottom-Mount-Drawer-Slides-Set-R-7212/202638048

Search Youtube for "installing draw guides" if you want, but with no instruction is was easy to figure out how the parts worked with them in my hand.

I forget the exact spacing of the foam, but most cars are pretty loose. They don't roll side to side because they are resting against the foam. Seemed simple to me. You could line the bottom with something, but so far I see no need.

BTW when I searched I found that many people used those drawer liners, but after a while they got sticky and they removed them.

Close up

There is a million ways to design them I guess. Also when the heck did select pine go up in price  :scared: might have to curb my spur of the moment layout builds   :D

So for Xmas I received a Lionel Berkshire painted for the Phillies... And to be honest, I'm a Cardinals fan. So the paint had to go. I forgot to take pictures of before and that's my bad but you can look it up on [Insert favorite web search engine here] and possibly see what I mean. Anyway here is the almost finished product. I still need numbers...

But yeah... Was primarily a bored type project... And the loco was stupid cheap... (I picked it out.  :D )

Merry Christmas, Asshats!  The Pink Nightmare

Merry Christmas to you and to all of the [Posterior headgear]s.

Please explain the Easter Bunny costume.  Does it have anything to do with:

Jingle Bells, Santa smells, Easter's on its way
Oh what fun it is to ride, in a beat-up Chevrolet!

Down the snowy road,
In a beat-up Chevrolet;
Parts are falling off,
All along the way!
The driveshaft just seized up;
It's coming through the floor;
All of us had better jump,
Or we will be no more!

OH!
Buy a Ford!  Buy a Ford!
They ain't built so cheap!
If you can not find a Ford,
You'd better buy a Jee-eep!
