Shorten to 50' and remove "waffles" for ATSF BX-181?

I don't remember how far off the IH was for the MTL model, but I recall the IH of the BX-181 was a few inches shorter than the 60' cars...

Would it be easier to graft the MTL ends into a LBF/IMRC 50' car?

Sanding off waffles sounds less then fun   :| :)

The LBF car has 12 posts vs 10 posts on the Bx-181.

Ah I see... Seems like a heck of a project... would love to see it...

Will the MTL car cut down to 10 posts?

Haven't measured it yet to know for sure...

One thing that stands out that works in your favor is that the 50' ATSF car doesn't sit as low on its trucks as the 60' car.
So the vertical compression shouldn't be as much of an issue.

Was this the car that wasn't compressed above the frame, and the sill only needed to be extended to correct it? I seem to recall and article in NSR...

I recall the car in the NSR article was also lowered with BLMA 100T trucks in addition to the sill extensions.
