It still needs couplers..... and of course number boards.... and does not look like an '80s Bachman model Peteski.

Craig

Nice!
The number boards thing jumped right out at me, but you've read my mind.  :P  :D

The whole pipe/no pipe thing started on my layout thread:
https://www.therailwire.net/forum/index.php?topic=32219.msg501267#msg501267

The lower steel shed was based off a pump house down the street, but no it's not the water side:
https://www.google.com/maps/@41.2122453,-80.8160314,3a,75y,117.92h,83.04t/data=!3m6!1e1!3m4!1sJ-0T6HxoL-kHuEI7f2o9VQ!2e0!7i13312!8i6656

I just figured people would wonder what the building was there for and the pipes would fix that. Plus it looks more Model Railroady  :P  and as you see a few here agree. But I'll see what my concrete arch end up looking like. I real life the pipes would be inside, boring!  :D

About the stack placement: once you cut off the front course of the boiler shell, you could have cut off the smokebox front, and cut off most of the section behind the stack and glued it to the front end of that piece to get the stack set way back to nearly prototype position. You had extra boiler in case you needed 2 tries for the "spacer" piece.

I just wanted to get the shell to a point where it looks like the prototype and I can start fitting the J chassis. This will not be the final result.

That J chassis. It looks perfect - everything aligns when held night to the prototype drawing, but the damn thing is just too tall. I don't think there is enough material to mill down to get it to fit. The Bachmann Mountain is far too short, so I'm left with what to use as a chassis.
There's a shyness found in reason
Apprehensive influence swallow away
You seem to feel abysmal take it
Then you're careful grace for sure
Kinda like the way you're breathing
Kinda like the way you keep looking away

For Chris:  Here's a project with sluice gate and wet well that might have some usable ideas with the proximity to the water and being a small facility.  Lot's of legitimate little features that shouldn't be too hard to make 8)... for you. :)  I think it could be legitimate by style and functionally evident even to the uneducated eye.
http://www.railroad-line.com/forum/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=32431

But a search for "river water intake" should have some results.  They are often called "wells" too.  Typical installation can have what looks like a simple pier jutting out of the water, maybe with a "pumpy looking thing" on it, ;) which may have visible piping from the pier to land or may have the piping submerged.  They can be as simple as a very small platform or sizes up to whole  building structures depending on the purpose of the facility and volume of water it's supposed to deliver.  The intakes for those were often near the bottom of the river with the idea being you get less debris and such as well as pickup down to dry bed.

Hi Jerry
Thanks for the feedback.  The decals for LA&L/B&H/WNY&P are available from Dan at the following URL.

Progress on my G32C.

Looking good, except for the paint behind the reporting marks.

Also, those trucks. They're beautiful, but wrong... Notice that this car is still plain bearing (unbelievably) in 95.

Ready for the Thanksgiving rush on the PRR.

Terrific photos, as usual, and congratulations on winning the 2017 MTL product guide photo contest.

Final answer!  :D

The bar along the bottom of the grate will disappear in the water layers.

You know I had to add a pipe right.  8)

Whoa. The kit came with the wrong trucks? Eh, I can live with them. Maybe they were chosen because of the low ride height?

Very nice Josh.  Change and weather the trucks, and maybe add some PRR FCC wash or powder to fade the white paint.  Too late for my era, but who makes this kit??

I should have mentioned this is an in progress shot.
It's an ESM kit. Still available, too! What tucks are the proper ones?
As for the white lettering, it isn't faded. That's why I scraped the paint off them.
