I've written it up.
If you're curious about how I've been achieving the effects I have been, here's the secrets:

Thanks!
I'm still working on good underbrush, but otherwise, I'm very happy (and want others to be too).

I'm doing late summer, but that will still work well with added greenery.  There is always deadfall and dried leaves in the woods.

Change of topic Ed models October 15th

In all seriousness I've loved these trees since the Kidney one of the early draws to the Railwire for me :)

It's about time you wrote this up!  I had to figure out what you did by guessing.  :P

Seeing Ed's original layout, now chicken's, I was inspired to try and duplicate it, but make in early spring in NE PA.  Thanks, Ed.

Still need to add more stuff to the forest floor, if I ever get back to working on the layout.

I think @Hornwrecker should tell @Ed Kapuscinski about his supertree soaks!
Josh Surkosky

Here's a Clerihew about Ed. K.

Ed Kapucinski
Every night, he plants a new tree.
But mention his law
and you've pulled your last straw!

Alternate version:
Ed Kapucinski
Every night, he plants a new tree.
He asks excitedly "Did you say Ménage à Trois?"
No, I said "Ed's Law."

Very nice job Ed. I used a blender and ground up dried winter leaves and small sticks to make a variation on winter ground cover. Saved a lot of money also.

No joke. I've been thinking about changing eras to October of 1978. The problem is that I own the 12/85 domain name. Do I want to have to rebrand my entire site? Hmm...

I'd say you nailed it. Your work is one of the things that has definitely been pushing me to get better. I really like the inclusion of the pink tree. It seems weird, but I'm sure it's based on reality.

Thanks.  The pink tree is a redbud; I color matched it to the tree in my backyard.  I've got to make some more understory trees and bushes, the thing about them is that they bloom before the tall trees leaf out, so add splashes of color to the mostly bleak gray forest trees.
