This is the view from my office conference room of the Old State Capitol in Springfield, IL on Veteran's Day.  3,512 American Flags in precise rows fill all four quadrants of the grounds around the building in which Abraham Lincoln gave his "House Divided" speech.  The number 3,512 represents the number of marked graves at Gettysburg and the flags will remain in place through November 19 which is the anniversary of Lincoln's Gettysburg address.

Train related content--within the Old State Capitol Building are original pieces of furniture from the Lincoln Funeral train which made its final stop at the station about three blocks from where these photos were taken.

Best regards,

Roger

Bill--Amazing work on the C&NW unit. Wish I could go to Trainfest this year, especially since they are  honoring The Milwaukee Road, but Thanksgiving travels in the opposite direction preclude attending this year.
Best regards,

Roger

During the Vancouver Train Expo and Railway Modellers Meet last weekend, my layout was open for two successive Open House visits, during which much positive and useful feedback was received.

With mainline control panels installed and turnouts now operational, all of the wiring work underneath Tremblay and above the Pine River bridge is now complete.  This means that the temporary wood bridge has served its purpose and can now be replaced with the permanent span.

The bridge was painted and weathered several years ago, and it now requires installation of bridge shoes, Micro Engineering Code 55 bridge flex track and attachment of feeder wires down to the terminal blocks, which are in turn connected to the track bus.

That work begins this weekend, and so today the final train crossed the temporary span as Work Extra 584 returned from Kiskatinaw to Sundance:

I am hoping to get the new span installed in advance of an Open House on November 20 - we'll see.

That C&NW Hammer head is cool. I love ugly ducklings. I have plans to model this unit one day.

Tim, nice to see that sweet bridge going in finally. I'm anxious to see the finished scene.

Mike's memorial train gave me inspiration to finish a couple of CPR locos I'd started a while back. Both ran on the E&N subdivision on Vancouver Island.

This one I modified with new roof fans to represent a Phase 3 model.

Aaaaand I just realized I forgot the number boards.

Thanks guys.

I have number boards I printed somewhere but can't find them. I'll print some more and they'll turn up immediately.

Peteski, at this angle it looks a bit like snoopy to me.

LOL, I don't see it but I trust you.  :D  With the doubled-up windshield panes many it ought to be called 4-eyes?  8)

I see a lot of things other people don't. Not always real. I like 4 eyes.

Just finished up my CN SGU as well.
