Did not know they were sold by themselves, w/o trailer coach. BLW has them for $30. Got an undec unit.

probably an older model. Only sold as singles. No idea if the newer ones are any different.

Edit:

Guess new ones have different motor and DCC:

Yes, the early run(s) was just the powered unit in a cardboard box with foam insert.  I have one of those.

Yeh, that's it alright. Have to read Spooks review. Likely not too good, eh? Forgot the early version. :(

I have a couple "a la carte", as they say, but little opportunity to run them. I think one has never left the box, in my bench queue as a start on an eventual UP detection car project ("DC-3"). My concern is they are both from the heart of Bachmann's cracked-gear era.

Just powered up a piece of flex, and ran the 'bug. Not bad at all. Good slow start. Yes, noisy, but I don't mind much. Were the real ones so quiet?
When I get back to modeling, I'll paint it for the Shepaug, Litchfield, & Northern. A real RR, part of NH, or Housy way,way back in the day. It's nickname was the "Slow, Late, & Noisy", I kid you not. They didn't last past early steam era.
For $30, a nice start to a fun project.
 Thanks,
 Joe D

Honestly I haven't checked. My particular Doodlebug project is way down on the totem pole at the moment. NWSL would be a good bet, tho'.
