Aflas already had f150 pickups.

Those trucks are F-100's

The cabeese are a great news for this B&M fan! Finally!
As far as the pickup truck goes, I also think it is a great addition to N scale. The '70s vehicles are not very well represented in N scale either. And for you contemporary modelers: you can still see '70s pickups on the road. Not often but it happens, especially in warm and dry climates like rural SW USA.  So, I wouldn't complain that much.

Cool, 70's Ford F100, My Grandpa taught me to drive in one of those when I was old enough to reach the pedals.
Which ever side of the track I am on is the right side.

So I guess that answers my question as to how appropriate they are for CGW, will have to get one to put on a transfer for my ~1960 Soo/Milw theme...  :D

When were they first built?

The CGW got theirs in 1945.  I've heard they were tacked onto New Havens 1944 cars but I can't find the source right off.  FYI, the red scheme started in 1963 with the delivery of the GP30's. Safety dots along the sill were generally later in the 60's (67-ish?).

An idea of roadnames and paint schemes from Intermountain/Centraila releases.

So what roads had NE-5 cabeese?..A real product annoucement would have been better than a (very) shaky sneak peek... :RUEffinKiddingMe:

I like the truck!

It's coming.  I think it's cool that Atlas decided to sneak the ahead-of-schedule test shot at Trainfest, ahead of the official announcement.

I know it doesn't hit many of you, but an NE-5 for me is as big as the FVM RIb Side caboose was for Milwaukee modelers.  The CGW had 25 of these and was the staple of the caboose fleet.  There are at least 12-15 paint schemes just between the CGW and CNW (merger).  I'm in for 5-6 undecs but will be watching the artwork closely to hopefully get things as correct as possible even though I know I'll never convince them to not paint all the CGW running boards black.  :|

This Pullman-Standard prototype actually hits a number of roads besides NH, CGW and B&M.  It's a good choice for a caboose regarding prototypical schemes — better even than the NE-6, which has been a major success for Atlas.

Excellent :) Nice to see something correct for the Upper Midwest  :)

Are you aware of a list? would be interesting to see what roads may be down the pipeline...
Seems like the year of New Haven, you must be elated!  :D

If you go way down the list you can get to Wisconson Central and Fox River Valley.

Those trucks are F-100's
the F150 was introduced in 1975, and is almost identical to the F100...the biggest difference was the F150 had bigger brakes and heavier leaf springs

It's cool they shared a sneek peek and all, but if the thing is sitting there, why not take a decent photo of it. :?..
Maybe someone at the show could help us out ;)

The grabs seem to be molded on. If you've ever seen the FVM wagontops, you know they can be separate parts, look good and still be strong.. I wish Atlas would follow suit...

I'm still pretty excited to have these available, molded grabs or not...

I don't see why not. The roofwalks are a separate part. If they were black on the CGW prototypes regardless of roof color, Atlas certainly would paint them accordingly.

The difference between the NE5 and the 6 is primarily the side panels? Is there anything else of major spotting difference?
