Wonder why they are doing this specific number as it was already done many moons ago in BNSF heritage color .
I know it's not the same road but a it's a parent road . BNSF kept the same unit number when possible probably .
I think it's bad .
Now that Cory is gone from there they will say it's his fault !!

Won't be cab style, 9200-9249 were the 3 window cabs, 9250-9298 and 1991 were the 2 window cabs.

Unless you have some sort of a twilight zone thing going, issuing the same number at various times in its existence is not a problem.

No not a joke but I can still sleep and not thinking about it .
I just find it a bit unpleasant that they could have instead pick many other road numbers , no ?
The 2 units could have exist at the same time at the beginning of BNSF .
When you run on 4 digits DCC it's not fun to end up with 2 locos of the same number .

Of all the locos I run I have only 2 units with the same road number ( over 160 units )

I never thought of this but duplicate loco numbers would be a pain with DCC addresses.

Ahh, didn't think about DCC. But I only run (for the most part) 1975 and 1955.

Good thing you don't model steam!  We can hardly get a new steam engine a year,  let alone worry about numbers.
Itd be great to only have to worry about renumbering instead of mostly scratch built locomotives since nobody will come out with proper Santa fe  steam!

Like I said before , not enough to loose sleep!
It's not that hard to renumber in comparaison with the work you have to do on your steamer .
But sine it's the same manufacturer with the same model in parent RR I would have think they could have done differently .

As for DCC when that occur I change the road number of the loco or run it under a different road number . When it's in a consist  I don't have to "talk" to the unit once it's programmed in the lash up .

Sure, they could have picked other numbers, however BN/BNSF only had/has 100 SD60Ms

I had my "A-ha!" moment when Atlas released the most recent version of the GP38-2s.  One of those SBD (former SCL) GP38-2s (No. 525) came also close to the BLI ACL E7 (No. 524) that I already owned.  I don't have the same luxury of the prototype that the E7s were off the roster when the GP38-2s showed up and received those same road numbers.  Whew.

I imagine that the number of modelers that (a) model an era and (b) locale where this matters, (c) has a layout (d) with DCC (e) big enough to run 160 locos at once, and cares (f) whether or not a dupe loco exists (g) and gets flustered if one or two locos aren't programmed to their road number or (h) really at all about any of this.....well I'd say that number is quite small.   Somewhere between 1 and 2 I'd guess but surely in the single digits.   

Now, coming from a company that will completely revamp a process when ONE person complains about something, I can imagine that Cory was surely fired because of this.   But I can also imagine that Atlas probably is going to survive the faux pas.   

Seriously, I do get what you're saying but I think of all the things I really want model railroad manufacturers to be fact-checking when they are trying to put forth an excellent model, this is way, WAY down the list...if it's even on the list at all.
