Got so paint in my VIA F40 this week. If time permits I'll get the decals on today

Steve, those are fantastic.  And your truck mods are pretty sweet too.

With a little focus stacking this is trackside Photos quality.

A couple more trucks completed.

These make me want to take up basket weaving.

Does the cleaning pad trigger a dragging equipment warning?  :D  :ashat:

It could - I'm using very little of the 14M2's resources.
I had rather have a random number generated and if it falls
within the axle count, a hot box would be announced.
Thanks all for the interest shown.
Al
PS -I got the "dragging equipment" - just forgot to mention it.
Just returned from my 60th HS class reunion and could not PS til now. Very good.

Hi
When Tranzrail began large scale coal moves from our West Cost to the East Coast port of Lyttleton, they were unloading equally as crudely, using an excavator.

Another update on my 2 ex-Cartier 'Bigs'. Truck mods are done and a couple of other bits tidied up.

This shows how I modified the Atlas Dash-8 trucks to resemble Alco's Hi-Ads. This is the best of 3 versions I've made over the years.

Cheers

Is that an M420 back there?

Thanks for the nice comments.

Yep, that's an M-420 in the back.  I bought 2 A's and a B when they came out.  One of the A's and the B were for a friend, who has since decided he didn't want them, So I now have all 3.  The A's are partially assembled, and awaiting time on my workbench.  Anyone want an M-420B, still in kit form?

Real nice F-40 Craig, is that a Shapeways print for the HEP section?

Cheers

The opening photo this week reminds me of a scene I'd like to create. Maybe not a primary way of loading cars, but a simple way of keeping the the carloads moving while repairs are being made to the loading tower. To me, it just adds interest. It's something defferent than what most think about when trying to model a loadout. Could easilly be gravel or coal. Here are a few I found while searching Railpictures from Tennessee and Maryland.

Hey, Peyril,

Thanks for showing my trackwork isn't "smooth-flowing", but it's prototypical!

Oh, my, that 'scope screen shot brings back memories of reading hotbox detector strip charts back in the '70s. :scared:

Same here, although that storage scope is probably more of 80s or 90s vintage.  I still have old analog Tektronix 465B in my workshop (along with a newer RIGOL storage scope).

Nice job Al!

I haven't had much time to model lately but finally managed to finish these three UP SD70M's that have been on my desk since late spring !

Thank you. Yes it is. It was a very nice fit. Decals are going well but it takes a while to get that full side to settle in. I may be able to post some progress later tonight.

I love those M420s. I have one B unit painted and awaiting assembly, and another B and 2 A waiting for paint.

Go Leafs!

Today was my club's annual fall show.We had the usual assortment of layouts (two very nice N scale layouts) and my Z scale show layout. :D I also got a super deal on a pair of TRAINWORX UPS Kenworths and a KATO VOLVO track, trailer, container package. $35.00 for the 3 items. It was a good show.

Two more pictures taken by my friend John Kellett. :D
