Was I dreaming or was there an actual announcement of a narrower sound decoder from ESU? I mean one that is available independently? If I wasn't dreaming, anyone hear anything lately on this?

It's in conjunction with the decoder ESU is making for the Intermountain SD40-2.  It's due in the "Fall" but that may be a fluid date.  I would expect it sometime in the next 3-4 months though.

It should be interesting to see how the narrower, but longer form fits into a hood unit with a decent sized speaker. 40mm long is about .5" longer than the current version.

Thanks for the info, guys!

Yeah... I searched a few weeks back and, now that I see it again, I remember finding that thread (or, I remember it from when it originally aired).

I guess that's it as far as any announcement info goes.

at any rate, can't wait for these!

There is still no official announcement.  The best we have is the conversation I had with Matt Hermann in early July at the National Train Show in Indy, who seemed very confident that these things would show up in November.  We'll have to wait and see.
