So from the announcement, it sounds like these are all new tooling but I thought the Value line was just rerunning existing LBF/Huberts tooling. Is it easy to swap out things like the ends on existing tooling?

Depending on how the tooling was designed it could be as simple as cutting a new "end" piece to a multi-part mold.

If they do design these cars as advertised the sides would likely be the only part reused from the original model.
I am hoping that the description applies to both and not just the HO version, that will be the determining factor for me...

While it could be lazy clap and dash content management, IMRC's upcoming N scale product page (http://www.intermountain-railway.com/newsncomingsoon.html) states "This version of the model features Dreadnaught Ends and a flat roof.  Future releases will showcase other variations of this car."  So, according to IMRC, there's more to come.  Can you live its product release schedule though?  (I gotta wonder if anyone at IMRC reads these ribbings and a) gets that no one thinks its funny, b) cares, and/or b) is trying to do anything about it.)
Failing to prepare is preparing to fail.

...stand in for the ... what would you call it?  ... on the OCE car.

I'm honestly not sure... The OCE car was built by Pacific Car & Foundry, perhaps its a proprietary PCF end? or Stanray? Curious to find out aswell...

I checked my 1980 Carbuilders cyclopedia and the end  on the OCE car is a Stanray "High-Capacity Terminated End."
The Bifurcated end moniker is a descriptive name likely given by railfans or modelers.

Both names are appropriate and both are a bit of a mouthful :) lol...

The ACI label was mandatory from 1970 to 1978 (they could be found 1967+ (1965 on DMIR)

The Consolidated Stencil first appeared as a single panel in 1972. This was replaced by the two panel version found on the BN car in 1974. this again was replaced with the smaller 3 panel version in 1978. All three versions can be found to this day.

The BN car is correct for a car painted from 1974 to 1977.

Thanks Ryan!

The BN cars were apparently also used in furniture service.  According to Morning Sun Books' "BN Color Guide...". 376400-31 were used for furniture, while 376432-99 were for paper.  Given the known unreliability of Morning Sun's captions, I wouldn't swear that was right.

Yes they do read your rants.  They do know the SD40-2 schedule has blown their credibility. They wouldn't have made the public statement 2 weeks ago unless they felt they had the matter under control.

What did you use for the X75?

NARC announced a PS 5077 in HO, but I haven't heard anything about a corresponding release in N.

IMRC's 5277 is a decent model, but it doesn't have enough side panels for either an early 5277 (e.g. Southern) or the shorter 5077.

If you remove the rivets from the end panels on a MDC Berwick, it would have the benefit of a PS roof, the correct number of side panels for either an early 5077 or 5277, and a removable door.  However, I haven't measured the height or spacing between the ribs to see how it compares with either the early 5077 or 5277.

If you could build a shrink ray before 2019, Cannon makes those ends in HO:

One other thing - doors are offset rather than centered.  If the ends were available, it would probably be easier to cut up a 60' car as the starting point:

The link that ryan posted above appears to show a flat roof, and closer to the IM number series.  Those seem to be pretty dang close for the prototype.

So a little more digging on these for my reservations, it appears some of the SP/SSW cars that went to GWS were also converted to 100t cars and a slightly larger capacity - hence a raised roof with a flat profile - and from B-70-42/3 into B-100-42/43(R).

You can see the raised roof pretty clearly here fellow Espeer's @jagged ben and @ryan_wilkerson
