Make sure to offer -10, -100, -500 -1000 qtys..

@Shipsure, will it be possible to buy these packaged without a coupler box, for modelers who want to do custom installations?

Thanks again for making these!

In daily operation of Micro-trains N couplers installed by average N scalers (me). Mine don't always couple on their own at a force of a feather.. and they roll so freely that I've had MT cars bump knukles and roll....

Remember MT sells retarder springs to resist rolling enough to allow the Original N couplers to couple.............

-Ian

Since the TRW international crisis of the week is that it 'may' take 2-3 cars worth of Newton's 1st Law to achieve automatic coupling with the new scale couplers...

So sitting at my desk going through cars I'm planning to sell.. (with MT Trucks and Couplers).. I grabbed a piece of track and ran a test..

I had some 'interesting' findings..
(All Cars are MT cars - No Extra Weight with MT Trucks and Couplers - No retarding springs.)

So.. Yeah...  I don't think this will be the end of N scale....

Thanks for that.

He simply forgot to lube the coupler with the MTL Grease-em graphite lubricant.   ;)

Everything was factory assembled at Microtrains....   :P

Hey Ian,

I have used the original MT couplers for automatic coupling and uncoupling on my unfinished layout for 30 years (...).  If you wanted to, you could easily check and if necessary adjust your standard MT couplers so they would couple *every* time.  Basically, when viewed from above and centered, each coupler needs to be *slightly* off-center, so the coupler knuckles will slide apart.  This adjustment is analogous to re-gauging locomotive wheels or tweaking factory-made turnouts before installation.

I think the real issue here is whether people will be able to adjust the new MT scale-looking couplers to couple as they wish, and that is still TBD.

I messed around with positioning them a degree or so off center (true-scale) and it make hands free easier.  I need to look at what this does to pulling and maintaining coupling.  Being so small they thrive on good track work keeping the couplers...coupled.  :)

Joe, have you tried the grease-em lubricant on the True Scales?

Joe,

Did you design RDA (Reverse draft angle) into these?

Seems like a reasonable requirement to me.    I don't see how scale sized parts could be expected to perform well on rough track.

Ed, I was kidding.  I do my best to make my trackwork reliable.

Doesn't apply for this design.
