Someone told me that there is a size difference between a rotary and a roundabout, but I never looked that up to confirm it.

They actually operate differently too.

If you don't have to change lanes to get where you want, it's a roundabout.

And just when you do figure these out, here in Springs we now have a Diverting Diamond and are getting a Continuous Flow Intersection.  Neither are difficult to figure out, but are very unnatural when driving them.

Found another cool natural scenic item in the Cascades yesterday. This actually grows upside down
and looks like a weeping willow. Don't know the name, but looks like a real tree with foliage when
you turn it right side up. Hit it with three shades of Krylon green. Going to also try shake turf to
see what that looks like.

>

That's the best paint and plant tree I have seen . Ironic that in its death it suffers the indignity of be wrong side up . We need the weeds name Chuck , maybe somebody here knows .

I got me a new project  :scared:

Sorry for the crappy light, but, that's out of the box, factory paint.  I'm going to have to mess that up a bit.

Warren Calloway happened to have a photo in his collection of this very locomotive, and has graciously allowed me to post it here.  He's hooked me up with photos of other SAL VO1000s from various angles, so I should be able to do a pretty accurate rendition.

Slowly making progress on the B&NL.  All of the hairpin fencing in the New Haven station area is in place. Finished one of the little vignettes for photos in the form of the employee warning signs at the east end baggage crossing.  This view will remain available after all the scenery is in place.

I got a texture that I'm happy with on this 1:29 scale truck:

Do you think it has too much of a sheen?

This afternoon,  I finished painting the "Shapeways" concrete tie loads, I primed them last night.  And finished decaling the cars that I had already painted.

Close up of one of the cars..

It grows like this: http://www.growsonyou.com/photo/slideshow/140418-ribus-white-icicle

Was in the Icicle Performing Arts Complex in the foothills of the Cascades, above Leavenworth. It's
real thorny looking when dried or dead, but no thorns.

This actually might be it, it blooms in Spring and these are the dead flowers gone to seed.

No, the sheen,  color and texture all look great. It is theose wimpy springs which scream "model train!"  To me that in one of those small details which makes or breaks model's realism.  I also realize that if those springs were made from thicker wire (to make them  true to scale) they would be way too stiff for true sprung-suspension.  But is spring suspension really needed?  N scale models work just fine with stiff trucks.

On my monitor, and my iPad, it looks like a Neopolitan Icecream bar, as if it has stripes.
Right at the top of the bearing, it turns from rust to a thin almost whiteish stripe to an almost armor drab olive color.
Anyone else?
