While I wait for some of my electronics to come in, I kept looking at my "cassette" solution and decided to make myself a module instead that will be nothing but scenery of some sort. Instead of using the pneumatic finishing nailer, I used the Kreg Jig to put the module together. I have to say, it went much easier and I'll definitely be using that for doing the Delmarva layout in the not too distant future. Here's the base before painting begins:



I have to flush trim the hardboard some because I didn't feel like ripping it down to the exact heights, but I bought a Dremel attachment the other day for just that purpose so I'll get to try it out shortly,
