Here's a perfect example that would make a great model. We see this style bloomin' everywhere:

I think Hallmark sold a near, if not N Scale Church that by memory looked just about like that one.
It does have some snow molded on the roof but I think with a grinding bit in a Dremel, that could be taken care of.
My Mom has/had one that she said I could have but since she's moved to Arizona, I think she is unsure of it's whereabouts.

Didn't someone announce a new n-scale church recently?  Was thinking Walthers, but maybe it was HO and someone else.   Looks like churches in my hometown...very 60's/70's as I recall.   Tried searching but no luck.

Anyway, I agree something besides the white super-steeple church would be nice.   Have seen some good ideas here though....thanks,great topic, and PTL!!!

Here is mine and it was a Hallmark Christmas tree ornament. I removed all the snow and built a new roof on it.

Thanks , Mike

Here's a poor picture of the Aurora Postage Stamp Trains church that has been on my layout since the mid-1970's.  I has a New England clapboard look but it is located just off of my Midwestern town square.

Here's my Kibri downtown cathedral.

I want big factories, you  guys want big churches --- when do you  think the RR companies will finally get it into their heads that N scale is BIG scale --  long trains, multiple loco lashups, giant factories, 5 story retail stores, etc? Because we have ROOM to do it  right .... what  about that concept can't they grasp? Drop the HO mentality ("can't fit in both lotsa trains and big buildings"),  already!
However, from  the years of observing HO layouts with  model "industries" only as big as the 50' boxcars parked next to them, I can see the  size disparity mindset runs deep and long.

Thanks for the tip on the Vollmer Cathedral:

The steeple would need to be covered. There are few, if any open air steeples like that in the States.

Here are a few photos of the Kibri church:

Both would work in older northeast cites.

True.  Many of them do have open areas for the bells/speakers, below the tapered part of the steeple.

Click the link he provided and you will see a steeple on which the carillon section is shown, but the tapered spire above that is openwork of some kind, unlike the usually shingled spire on most American churches.

I missed that at first, but then realized you can see through the spire in places.

Don't forget to put a cell phone antenna or two on the steeples.  Many churches pick up a few bucks a year by leasing them to the cell companies.

Too modern for me I'm afraid. But what a great era indicator! Building mounted cell receptors wasn't a thing till about 2003 when the switch to digital gen2 allowed much smaller antennas.

Side note: I was one of the first customers on the old ATT all digital TDMA network in 1996/1997. I think I was one of only three kids in school to have a cell phone if any type and the other two had one of those man-portable car phones.

Someone said there should be more church models in Mass production... heh he heh heh.
 8) :D

I'm modeling East Baltimore, but I won't have room for St. Casimir's

I might be able to pull off the front facade as a backdrop flat, though...

I mean, where are those local Hons going to play Bingo if not at St. Casimir's?
