BLI has finally updated their website so the pictures now show how horrible this car is in N scale.

http://www.broadway-limited.com/3350atsfstockcarcattlesoundsn.aspx

Some things cannot be unseen....even the ladders look clunky... :scared:

Someone is buying them however ...BLI looks to be close to selling out of the non-sound versions.

but I can't for the life of me figure out how their marketing department determined that we wanted a scaled down O-27 car and were willing to pay $69.95 for it.  For the price, this should be the most accurate stock car ever made.  I suppose it goes with the "noisy" water tower they are bringing out (which at least looks better in the pictures).

BLI Rep:... But...B..B..But it Moos..

I didn't even think about this, but are these "DC" or "DCC" circuitry?  Is the sound gadget reprogrammable- so you could use it for something besides stock cars?

BTW.. Athearn Made a 'Lionel' car too but you can see through it...

I was waiting for photos, and good lord! In addition to the gigantic ladders hanging almost a foot off the side of the car thanks to the bridge girders bracing the opaque sides, look at that ride height!

PS - Why is it posed on an S-curve?

To try to distract you from looking at the oversize details!  It almost worked. ;)

I still say that the fidelity of those cars is similar to those pseudo-N-scale Walmart toys from few years ago.

In HO yes . the sound feature is actually really cool!!... adds some nice realism to a scene..

Just would be nice if the car looked good.

A real shame about the tooling on this car.

Luckily for me, I have no real interest in this car, but I'm wondering if a better shell could be fitted to this car ...

BLI still has not posted any notice on their Facebook page.  Seems to indicate they are aware of the design misstep and don't want the feedback.

From a few choice comments I've read online, I think the folks who are really upset are the Pennsy modelers who ordered big batches of the non-sound cars, assuming they would get the same quality as the recent hopper releases.  Sounds like some people are sending them back.  I assume that folks who ordered with sound knew it was a gimmick to begin with- so they may be less concerned over details as long as they get their moos and brays.
