The beauty of older vehicles, trucks especially, is they can be used on layouts set decades later, but it doesn't work the other way around....

+1 Me too.  Nothing after 1956, unless I break down and hide 1 anachronistic 57 Chevy or T-Bird someplace.

A brand new, shiny '57 Belaire or T-Bird would be okay in late '56 since both companies started selling the next year's models before next year was here.

Cheerio!

My first choice would have been a lifted 69 Chevy shortbed w/ 36" Gumbo Monster Mudders.   8)

Mid 60's to mid 70's would be great... and some in "Daylight Orange" too please (with Southern Pacific lettering on the side).   :D

Many thanks for the poll addition!

That really helps to tally the results and I am beginning to see which direction to lean.

I clicked 50s in the poll, but 40s would be fine too.  And per my earlier post, I would rather late 40s than late 50s.

But picky-ness on dates aside, thanks for bringing more vehicles to market.

So it looks like we'll have yet another batch of '50s and '60s vehicles. Ho hum. And for a while it looked like Showcase Miniatures started a new trend by producing more contemporary vehicles. What was a refreshing change will revert to the same ol' old stuff.

I dunno Pete, they pretty much hit every era in last two years. GM COEs, 60's and 90's Internationals, 70's-80's GMCs and a Y2K+ Freightliner.

I say just continue the trend. Choose a different truck for each decade.

Besides Pete, we have Trainworx going crazy with, well, Petes along with KW tractors and soon Freighliners as well. Like Showcase, they too seem to be trying to hit a new decade with each release.

Anything from 1990 through 2006 will work well for me.

Some 1970's and 1980's Ford and Dodge 3/4 and 1 tons would be great. My grandfather had a 1977 F250 and a 1984 Dodge half ton. I still have the 1977 F250. Since I model 1975-1981 and 1954-1965 as my two era's of the Maine Central almost anything from 1980 back works for me.

Not in the 60s era I voted for, but I'd love to see a Willys pick up and panel wagon.

I know Daniel - that is why I stated that they have been innovators in modern N scale vehicles, but the survey seems to clearly favor '50s and '60.  So if they take the survey seriously then would just make vehicles from that time-frame.   But continuing to make models from a wide range of time periods would be good.

I'm not so sure... To me the survey isn't as clear cut as you see it. While the 50's/60's has the majority of the votes at 35.3% its hardly an overwhelming majority. Consider the 1990's to present has 25.1% of the vote and the 70's/80's has a respectable 20.9% of the vote. While true you could divide the eras differently, it is still a pretty even poll with no clear winner...

If anything I'm surprised that there is such a spread across the different eras, and that there is demand for vehicles of all eras...   :D

finally and this is the big part :) Walter asked "which era to begin with (first ;))." not only! :)

*all % are at the time of my post and subject to poor math  :D
