On my way down I-75 today and decided to stop in Locust Grove, GA. I had read a few things about the train watch platform and their downtown area, so seemed worth while. I will say it was rather nice, although I didn't see any trains.
The train watching platform is much larger than the one at Folkston, GA. And the wonderful humidity and afternoon high of 100 degrees greatly reduced the possibility of lingering for any amount of time. The restaurant we ate at was really good, little pricy, but really good. It also provided a nice air condition alternative train watching location (but still no trains). Here's a few photos:
