Not much to report as of yet, as it's officially registration day with the MTL Welcome Reception later tonight. Scale Trains included a free promotional 53' container with each registration packet.

That's a great start to NSE 2016, Brian Bussey.  And Pittsburgh for 2017 is a great city.
Thx all for the posts to come, for all of us who can't be there  :)

The best news I see from Scale Trains is that they use Tru-Color paints, and they advertise that fact. Finally modelers will be able to do exact pain matching for their scratchbuilt or modified models.  That is the coolest thing I've seen for a long time. Maybe even a game changer!  :D

Never been to Pittsburgh, 2017 might be the year to head north. I would have to start RIGHT NOW on convincing the wife it would be a good vacation.

She went with me to the 2008 show in Louisville... she was less than thrilled that I spent close to 5 hours running a 60 car train around that monster layout they had assembled. But we did do a couple of tours, even went on the southern portion of the Bourbon Trail, which in the end made up for it.

I might actually be able to make that one.  I went to Louisville, which is only a three hour drive from here, and flew to Portland in 94(?), but the new job doesn't have a great vacation plan, preferring that workers work.  Welcome to 21st Century corporate life...

Yes!  Is Jason Shron there?  Can some ask (beg??) if Rapido will do the fluted SS Osgood Bradley cars in N scale?  They are doing them in HO and they would be the perfect cars to run with the FL9s.

I greatly enjoy visiting Pittsburgh and I feel everyone who attends will feel similarly. The Station Square hotel where the meeting is could not be a better venue. It is bookended by NS and CSX lines with trains running often (traffic may have diminished since I was there a few years back). Short walk to the trolley line into the "downtown," little longer walk to the incline and to the boat landing (great way to get to PNC Park for a Pirates game).

The hotel lobby area has murals depicting B&O passenger trains. If you're there on a Sunday morning, the brunch in the dining room is outstanding.

Add that to the offerings of the NSE with the opportunity to meet so many of the posters here and it should be a fabulous weekend.

Is Jason Shron there?

I gather not, not this year. But your message will no doubt be passed on.

N Scale Kits have got

the Kasgro 16 axle 450 ton depressed centre car

the Thrall 5 car 40' double stack cars (similar to Interail's cars now unavailable)
the later Thrall 5 car 40' and 45' double stack cars
and the even later Thrall 5 car 40' and 48' double stack cars

the PRR FM 40' flat car

a 53' container and 53' double stack container both by N Scale Laser (in laser cut mdf) the former available on a 53' trailer for intermodal work, to fit the AP53 Gunderson car already released.

Thrall's 53' double stack wellcar TTX NWF13

the Abrams M1 and M1A1 tanks in resin at 1:160 scale for use on the DODX 68' car already available.

All of the above will now have decals.

and preproduction examples of
Thrall's 53' 3 car unit TTX NWF33SF
Trinity's 53' single double stack car RWG33
and 10 and 5 car unit FuelFoiler

There will announcements of the 2017 production plans made on Sunday.

No doubt others will be posting pictures of the above, from my Room 1008 later today, and the Swaparama later this week.

I hope that these are of interest!

I'm filling in for Rapido this year to help out. Products will be displayed on half the ESM table since I don't need a full table. The product and signage is scheduled to arrive at the hotel today. I know FL9s and PBLWs will be displayed. I don't know what other product if any is included. I'll find out when the shipment arrives later.

The HO 8600s (fluted coaches) are due in later this summer. If the PBLW sales remain strong (and no reason they won't) and the reviews are favorable among the consumers and the magazines, then it is likely that we will see an N scale version of the 8600s as well.
