...The US has gone 53 feet but MT will stay at 48, thank you very much...
And then there's the post (on another page) re the convention showing the ad from NSR - from an unnamed manufacturer - showing six new 53 foot cans. The US has gone 53 feet but MT will stay at 48, thank you very much...
As far as I could tell, by about ten years ago most 48 stand-alone well cars (including the draw barred sets) had ended up in trash train service. Mind you though, the point isn't that no one wants to model trains with 48' husky stacks, it's just that most people who do probably have their MDC or Athearn versions already.
If the 48-foot well cars are not being refurbished, Furman said, “They make really good bridges or anchors. That’s about all they are good for right now.”
The Railwire is not your personal army.
But back to the 48's one more time....I photographed a BNSF train in June of 2015 and 11 of the 188 platforms were 48ft wells.

Yes, but how many were stand-alone wells like the Husky Stack? I'm willing to bet one, with two 5 unit articulated sets making up the rest.
No images on my end either... Not even JEs link worked... Oh well...
