Cheap N Scale Buildings from China

The other day I saw these on eBay for $9.99 with free shipping, so I took a chance.
I'm pretty happy with my gamble.

I got them from http://stores.ebay.com/outlandmodelscn/. Some of their stuff definitely looks better than others, but I was pleasantly surprised.

Is it me or do the doors and windows look like they are Z scale?  They seem tiny!

It is also odd how the 5 pairs of windows do not line up with the 4 bays on the 1st floor.  I guess you get what you paid for.   ;)

Some of their buildings are definitely RP'd using a filament style printer. The copy of the Model Power factory certainly looks like a Makerbot product. The flat wall buildings like you picked up seem to be a different process?

The packaging was not amazing. The building was flat packed in a padded envelope.

But, it did make it half way across the planet like that, so I guess it worked fine.

Now that I have more space, I suspect that Tomix warehouse will find a home on my layout pretty soon.

Although I think the door on the Chinese building is indeed short (judging by the photos), one reason the windows look small is that it is sitting next to a DPM building.  The one I have at hand is not the same one as shown in the photos here, but when I measure it, the second story "apartment" windows scale out to 95" tall (almost 8' tall) and the distance between the top of the first floor window and bottom of the second story window (not the outer molding, but the inner window frame) is 35".  If you figure that the ceiling would be minimally 6 inches above the top of the window, and the floor would be a foot thick (ceiling plaster, lathe, 2x8 at a minimum, and 2 layers of flooring), that puts the window sill 17" off the floor of the second story.  There are indeed buildings with windows like that, but not really the norm, even among late 19th century buildings.

For a municipal building of more modern era, the windows of the Chinese building might be closer to correct.

Mr. Kapuscinski, would you be willing to measure the building for us- footprint and window size?  I've been thinking about some of them as well- some of the taller ones could be good "background" for a downtown area.

As a side note, the town I used to live in pre-retirement had a police station that was built along the lines of the Chinese building.  Lower level was mostly garage and upper police offices.  Windows were intentionally small- ACed building, more energy efficient in winter, and I imagine a suspect of any size wanting to make a quick exit would have chosen a different route.

 the windows seem to line up fine to me. also the smaller windows are very common in modern buildings.
Perfect for a transfer warehouse. A Parfect textiles warehouse

Ok, Footprint:

It's...
112mm deep
133mm wide
Second story windows are 4mm x 8.5mm (to the outside of the frame)
First floor windows are 17mm x 10mm (to the outside of the frame)
Open areas are 26mm wide x 21mm tall.
