   a good deal if only a few to none are on hand,but am
   well past that point.
    lots of good stuff there,but on DVD can Corrections
   be made to the Typos or Mistakes in the articles ?

As far as I can tell they are plain Jane .Pdf files... no DRM and no proprietary software.

I ask because I bought the Narrow Gauge Gazette DVD and it runs off of Adobe AIR. You can find the plain PDF files, but to use the search functions you have to use the AIR interface that crashes every single time I use it and before it crashes it is very slow.

As a C&O HS member you get a discount to $199.99.  However, membership is $45/yr so joining would be a break-even thing.  You do get a 10% discount on a lot of the items for sale by the C&O HS, but unless you're a C&O or Pere Marquette fan there's probably not enough to make it worthwhile.

The price is a little high considering that Kalmbach first offered  79 years of MR for around $199 and this is only 26 years.  But the info is probably more relevant.

I got my copy yesterday.  The biggest problem I see is that it's one 4GB PDF file.  Preview on my Mac opens it, but it's encrypted and locked.  You are given permission to view, copy and print from the PDF.  In Preview I can only see one page which tells me I need Adobe Acrobat to read it.  This is a common thing with the C&O HS PDF files.  Their compilations are often one huge PDF file.  I had to download a copy of Acrobat (DC - whatever that means) to read it properly.  It's stored as an Acrobat Portfolio volume.  Inside the big file are indexes and you can search on keywords.  The pages are able to be cut and pasted so you can copy text chunks. I didn't try to copy any of the drawings yet.

  so picked out a few of intrest,then was told they were $6.00
  each,no volume discount.
   put the issues down and walked away.
  don't expect back issues Free,but thought that price was Way

If the text portion is searchable in those PDFs doesn't that mean that the text is stored in a font (vector) format?  If that is the case then there is no pixelation at any zoom level.

Not really sure how to do this, as am not expert on PDFs.  Am assuming that text portions of scanned page would have been converted to text elements with characters etc., and that remaining portions of scanned page would have been stored as some sort of directly embedded raster images (inline images).  Am further assuming that anyone with Adobe Acrobat or similar would be able to extract such raster images and display in a program which shows pixel dimensions.  Lots of assumptions there (...). 

OTOH, the boiler image you show above seems reasonably detailed.
