You realize that this will cause a huge outcry from the MT collectors. Remember what happened when you changed over to the medium-profile wheelsets?  You had to include both, pizza-cutters and the new wheels in the box for a while to placate the collectors.  What will you do now? Include both plastic and metal wheels in the box?  :trollface:  :D

I would be interested in metal wheel sets from MTL as a aftermarket option either matching their "Low profile" wheel sets
or similar to FVM's "fine-scale" wheels.  If they were available in bulk packs (100 axles) at prices in the same ballpark as the
competition all the better.

Depending on the manufacturing process it would be interesting if you could bring back the "Rib back" cast iron 33" wheel pattern,
like Lifelike/Walthers have in HO. https://www.walthers.com/exec/productinfo/920-21254

...and since I'm throwing suggestions a Z scale coupler with a 1015 style box would make me the happiest boy in the village :D

Spikre:  MDC's old 70-ton rollerbearing trucks look pretty good with 36 inch wheels.  Just trim the raised rim off the top of the bolster and you have 100-ton trucks with "standard" height bolsters.  If you already have a bunch of these under 100-ton cars it's a lot cheaper than buying new trucks.

As many styles of prototype trucks as there were I doubt that most m0delers would be able to tell the difference.  I know I can't, but the wheel size is obvious, by the amount of open space above the truck frame.

Joe if you can keep the cost at $4.50 with metal wheels I would be forever grateful.

I was recently sent a package of RB trucks from various manufactures. In the mix was 70 and 100 ton trucks with swapped out missing wheels. Trying to figure out what trucks were proper 100t and what were not was really difficult even with a caliper measuring the needle bearing cups.

I always Thought the main spotting feature between a 70 and a 100 was two coil springs vs three respectively?

Not necessarily Barber trucks have visibly identical spring packages for both 70 and 100 ton versions (note I said visibly alot of the difference is unseen and therefore not modeled)

The two spring spotting feature is common to the ASF 70 ton ride control truck (modeled by Athearn or BLMA)
Although there is still more then two springs if you look behind the front row.

as I said at the top most of the differences between 100ton and 70ton S2 trucks are behind the scenes (bushings, bearings, spring packages, bolster etc...) so from  modeling standpoint besides a larger wheelbase and slightly beefier frame there isn't much difference...  :)

Glad to hear about the price correction. I was about to say I would have to leave model railroading because of ever increasing prices. I know that prices will always rise, it's just the our world works.

   find a copy of RP CYC 4 for a great look at trucks until the
  early 50s.
   RMJ and MM have also run truck spotting articles over the years.
  BARBER Trucks:
   they didn't cast their own trucks,members of the 4 Wheel Truck
  Association did,then paid Patent and Design Royalties to the
  "Standard Car Truck Company".SCT was a Design Firm run by
  Mr Barber until He passed on,so not sure who runs them now,or
  if the Barber Family sold out sometime in the past ?
  this is why there is so much variation in Barber trucks of the same
  weight classes.
   ASF markets a version of the Barber Super Duty 125 Ton Truck now.
  firms that have cast Barber designs in the past include:
  Scullin
  ASF
  PSF
  National
  Buckeye
  Ohio Steel Foundries
  Symington-Gould
  Bettendorf didn't seem to cast actual Barber S-2 designs,but they did
  add the S-2 Wedges to AAR-trucks until ceasing production about 1943.
  Birdsboro Foundry
  will add others as they are recalled.
