Atlas Thrall Covered Gondola

:|  I received two of the latest run Atlas Thrall Covered Gondola's yesterday from one of my online pushers. I know these cars at least without the covers have been discussed before. My reason for buying my two cars is the nicely done red and white paint scheme for United States Steel (USS) "Geneva Works" , growing up in Utah this USS plant, built during World War II was located just over the point of the mountain, over into the next valley Utah Valley from Salt Lake Valley near Provo, Utah. For many years this Iconic plant served by both Union Pacific and Rio Grande, provided both jobs and pollution (air trapped in the winter) to Utah County residents. In the early 1990's this plant no longer owned by USS was taken out of service, dismantled and most of it shipped to China. A small part remains and the land will be redeveloped. Nuff history now for the model a quick review. Very nice detailing, very detailed under frame detail, clearly readable markings in white on the red car ends and on the red painted covers. If the side ladders are not a separately applied freestanding detail then the molding job is extra nice. The white car sides with large red lettering a USS logo and an American Flag are contemporary markings. Reporting marks, and other data are in black. The trucks feature low profile plastic wheels ,couplers are Chinese made under license Accumate's  according to a printed blurb on the back of the paper insert. Cars are packaged in two clear plastic nests , top and bottom that snap together to offer maximum protection. Two road numbers for this paint scheme are available. Very Nice.                                                                                Nate Goodman (Nato). Salt Lake, Utah.    :|
