Glad I could be of help. They are nice guys. The fellow who developed the grain bins is an N scaler himself. I think he recognizes the need for more AG related items in our scale. Mark Watson is also bringing some nice AG things to our scale as well. Thank you gentlemen!!!!

We could use some period tractors and implements (I vote for late 60s early 70s) for loads and layout placement.

All set up for Van Wert. There is something quite rebellious about a summer train show. Its only a couple hours drive from home too. With temps in the high 80s, it'll be good to be in the shade at least. Still no room for the new modules yet. The basic 5 will do.





Jim's good ideas shine again. His simple power connections from the RC plane world are fantastic. His signage and graphics are wonderful as well. I am reminded of many good ideas he came up with.

CMR's electronics guru came thru for me again with an entire new control system for my crossing signals.  I continue to be their unofficial demo layout, and willing guinea pig. He was kind enough to send the entire new system in the post last week. I installed the newly improved sensors in the track. They just need his hand for fine tuning. The crossing signals do not work quite yet, but very soon...
The sensor's IR beams are not visible to the eye, or course, but the cellphone camera shows me they are operational.









Northern Indiana and Ohio offer a lot to see trainwise. Big mainlines cross here on their way to Chicago: B&O, NYC, PRR, Etc. The Wabash and Nickle Plate also passed nearby in Ft.Wayne. Least we forget the mostly now abandoned Erie/EL mainline, which passes just a couple miles south of the show. Caught this power parked on the old Wabash 4th district mainline today. Who would have thunk big power like this would become prevalent on shortlines all over the U.S.? Not an old timer like me, I guess.




If you are in the area, do stop by the show and say hello. A cold diet pop (soda) will very likely buy you some run time on the layout.

I never followed up from last weekend. My son and I went to the show together on Sunday for some badly needed father -
son time. The bummer of it was that the humidity from the open - door building "played heck" with trying to keep locomotives running. I could never seem to keep the track clean enough for them to run well.







The show did have a lot of N scale for sale. The home - made pies at the food counter were fantastic! I introduced my son to sugar cream pie, a regional favorite.

After the show, we took the time to check out this restored PRR caboose at the local historical society...

All in all it was a great experience in a friendly town. As my friend said, "This show has a unique vibe". I agree. Perhaps it was the variety of vendors, over 12 different layouts, and at least three historical displays/vendors that helped give it that vibe.

As always, it was a fun time at the N scale weekend in Altoona. Although I miss the auction, it does leave Saturday evening free for railfanning a plenty. Sunset at Gallitzin is a nice way to end the day. Took the time to see the tourist railroad in Hollidaysburg and see the shops. Pennsylvania's countryside is pretty and its easy to see what inspires people to model it.

There was only 1 or 2 items for sale at the entire show so I avoided spending too much money, although the fellas at the DKS booth may argue that fact. I'd like to also thank Matt for buying the MILW office car, more money I didn't need to spend.










The electronic guru from CMR perfected my signal system. He worked persistently to perfect the timing of the flashing LEDs. My great thanks to them.

Got lumber all cut up for construction. First however, I need to deconstruct some old modules.











Corner modules first. Pity. They are the hardest modules to build too. I suppose some club out there could have used them too. Oh well , out they must go.








Ooh. Look at all that nice painted track on risers. All ready for pink foam. (Sigh)  " Bang. Bang. Maxwell's silver hammer came down..."






Even though the track was not salvageable, the lumber was. Now I have more room in the trailer.

I wish I knew you were at Altoona!  I was there all weekend, and must have walked by your modules 100 times...  Would have loved chatting with you.  This project is one of my favorites.

Honestly, I did the same thing. I remember inspecting the modules and then a butterfly must have flew by and off I went.

I was hanging out across the aisle from you too @randgust 's table.  I wish I had realized as I would have loved to introduce myself and checked out your work in person.  I've always enjoyed your posts.

For next year's event, perhaps TRW members with tables or modulars on the premises could attach a simple 3x5 card identifying themselves by "handle."   Would only be noteworthy to other 'hats'; others would ignore or not notice. 'hats would be on the look out for said card though.
