BLMA 31k Crude oil tank cars finally available

Just ordered a bunch of the new BLMA crude oil tank cars.  I've been looking forward to these cars for a long time. A crude oil unit train will be a great addition to the N Scale UPRR Geneva Sub.  I plan to do a video review once they arrive later this week.

BTW, many of the black cars are out of stock already at the online retailer I ordered from. I had to double up on a few road numbers.

I got 'em all - same etailer, I suspect...ya snooze ya lose...

It will be interesting to see if the trucks roll as they should.  I've bought a lot of BLMA and my number one problem - aside from the too narrow wheels - is the trucks don't roll freely.  It was suggested to simply bend the ends out a bit.  But it's worth the PITA to get beautiful models.

Railroad's looking good, Daryl.

Anxious to see what my 24 look like. I mixed and matched schemes. Was able to find all road numbers from a non usual suspect dealer, and at a lower price than the barons of Baltimore were offering.

I managed to snag a few even tho the budget is tight right now.  According to some proto pics these aren't exclusively used in unit trains, so these will find their way onto a Tehachapi train.

I know these cars are new, but anyone seen a good weathered example?

I thought about mixing and matching, but I could not find any prototype photos.  I'm sure there must be examples of this somewhere though.

And when the budget allows, you can safely run a unit train on Tehachapi as well.

Makes me glad I am building in a little extra staging capacity now ;)

Seems like every photo I've seen shows one or the other...and of course now I've shot my mouth off, SOMEONE will come up with fifty photos...

I see trains of the white tanks routinely and they're still pretty clean other than the normal crud/dirt and wheel splatter that build up along the ends and on the trucks.

Ed's law lives on. Sort of. I didn't see anything but black schemes. No white cars in that train.
