Decals on Stainless Steel Car Sides

Hi All,

I have an HO scale Palace Car Company car that is built from stainless steel.  I need to put car numbers and 'Baggage' lettering on a portion of the car that is unpainted and remains stainless.  Is there anything I should do prep wise for these areas?  Is Microscale MicroSet and MicroSol the best solutions to help with adhesion?

Thanks, Doug

I wouldn't decal directly without giving it a gloss coat first. Then you can give it a final coat of finish of your preference. I would go with a satin finish myself but this can be whatever you prefer to seal the decals with after. But before you do anything I would give it a thorough cleaning first to be sure that there are no oils from handling.

Thanks, Jon.  The car is clean, was wondering more about the clear coat, I'll shoot one on there first.
