Ok, all kidding aside. Looking at that reminds me how lucky we are to have all of the phenomenal models we do these days.

And at $9 it's a bargain! When we first saw this tooling nearly 50 years ago, it would've been $2.50. That's $17 in today's money.

Verily, blessings are being counted.

But this one has a realistic load. It has to be an even bigger bargain.

But this one has a realistic load.

That can easily be fixed for just a few pennies with a little white glue and black sand (for coal) or whatever modeling material you want to use to represent another commodity such as sand, gravel, etc.

So these are those cars I saw in the MRC's booth at the Springfield show. They had a set of all the cars for something like $300!  And the set wasn't that large!  I should have taken a photo if it.  :(

Are those (non-automatic?) couplers from Red Caboose?  They look vaguely familiar.

If you strip the foobie CR blue paint, the Model Power gon is a decent match for either a PRR G29 or a CNJ G5 (leased from N&W):

Cut it down from a 46' gon with 12 panels to a (slightly larger than) 40' gon with 11 panels.

I'm gonna buy one, do a great job of weathering it, and give it to Ed so he can look at it and get pissed.

Buyer beware, the Chinese made versions have "improved" tooling, which last time I saw one meant that the brake wheel was molded on (big pain to remove).

I have a bunch of the Lima versions, the bed scales out to about 46'.

They had the same display set up at iHobby in Edison, NJ. I had to try very hard from audibly laughing when I saw it. I likely could have walked around the Greenberg portion of the show and found each of the cars in the set for probably a third of what they wanted (paying what the dealers think the cars are worth, not what they are actually worth).
