Only on the S and through "Pacific", all of which probably weren't moved.

Would he photoshop it from three different angles?  :)
also I believe there was a photo published in the 1980's taken by a different photographer

I just have a hard time coming to grips with how "PACIFIC" is totally unaffected by what is going on above.
The doors are full length so both top and bottom lines would be on the same doors.

Ant ideas how this occurred?

If it is, they did a good job matching up the lines of the doors running through the letters...

No they didn't. Blow up t he photo -- the "U" and first "R" door lines running through them don't match the doors they're on.

I imagine it wasn't a case of rearranging doors, more so the paint shop having fun when nobody was looking...
or it could be an elaborate hoax, it is on one of the most trusted SP websites tho  :|

Back in the day, the Southern Pacific was 'known' as the Sufferin Pacific by a number of people.....mainly by Santa Fe employees who had to deal with the S.P. dispatcher while working over the Tehachapi Mountains.  In addition, according to them, S P stood for 'Slow and Pokey'.  Seemed like railroaders had a comical name for everything.  The cabforward locomotives were know as 'back up malleys'.
I started with nothing and still have most of it left.

This is turning into a Scooby-Doo episode...  "I would have been successful if it hadn't been for those meddling 1980's railfans and their pesky links!"  :D
