I'm with @Chris333  on making the longer bridge the concrete arch bridge.  I think that will give a more FEC/Overseas Railroad flavor than a bunch of plain ol' plate girder bridges.

When we drove to Key West in 2004, I made Patricia drive so I could gawk at the FEC bridges.

It makes me pine for a day when American engineers thought nothing was impossible with enough work and ingenuity.

I grew up in Cocoa Beach and we spent summers in Boy Scouts camping and fishing in the Keys.  Lots of small fishing shacks north of the islands, the whole area is thick with shoals and flats.  I found a pic of an older one and started it tonight when I got home.

I made the drive in 13 - fortunately the gent of the couple we were with likes to drive as much as I do, and I let him...I got a stiff neck from looking at the old FEC!  Here you see where they built the highway on top of the rail bridge.  To the left, a gap so people wouldn't use it for through traffic.

This is a great concept for a display layout, and you have the talent to really do it justice.  Watching with great interest!

Love it. Make sure the colors are vibrant. They are far more vivid than most would think.

Worked on the footings for some fishing shacks at lunch...these will also double as crew houses.

Here is the assembly jig and the parts going together.  The shack itself will slip over the horizontal beams so I can install these first, detail in and around them, and then install the shack on top.

Very cool!  I love the jig, which will keep the assemblies square until the adhesive dries.  Don't forget the diagonal braces.   ;)
