Take the first yellow of these on the left and move the rr to the bottom

Peteski's excellent modern design (forgive me for working on it) color coded to the OP Locomotive/General Scheme-Theme

No problem - we are all in this together.  :)

Most of the other logo examples look too old-fashion or too complex for a 1990s railroad. At least to me. San-serif typeface is the way to go for a modern look

Peteski's idea is basically what I had in mind except substitute the two inner circles of the B with the State's shape. The left edge of the State would be the right side of the I. The I would also not necessarily need to be a different color from the B as I believe the eye will still see it.

Lots of great suggestions to chose from and/or modify!

I can see why you'd want to move the RR to OR. Idaho doesn't really have the shape for a sign or a stylized letter.
Are you sure you want to call it a "belt" line? I thought that was a relatively short railroad that connects several or many major railroads. Idaho & Washington RR? Idaho Central? Idaho International? Idaho RR? Boise and Northern Idaho?

Ok, I really need to be quicker with these things. I had it mostly done yesterday, but needed to put on the finishing touches.

There are a couple interesting things going on here. The yellow/gray colors have to be pretty saturated to work well together, otherwise it just looks too washed out.

But, then, the problem becomes that the scheme, especially coupled with the name, starts getting uncomfortably close to the well known Utah Belt:

So, it's something to think about.

My first thought a outs ed's scheme was UB as well. Not a bad reference mind you but perhaps too close. Since I can't edit graphics in my iPhone, could we look at a version with two thin yellow strips bracketing the Idaho Belt words?
