Old GO Train F59PH freshly repainted in AMT scheme .
A much better deal than the Bombardier hybrid ( diesel/electric or electric ) loco they bought about 5 years ago for many millions a piece ...

A 206 car, 2+1 CN 305 rolling uphill through Beare on the York Sub. At the right time, CP sends an EB 142 by with a fmr CR C40-8W trailing. Nice.

Train included 125 empty potash cars returning to Saskatchewan from St John, NB. They had gone east loaded as part of a 153 car, 21,800 ton unit train. This was the first run of what is new business for the RR.

And two shots of the 2nd run of that new business, CN 730 takes the sweeping curve through Whitby, ON. Another 2+1 setup with 151 loads, over 21,000tons:

What snow? This year has been poor for snow. We had some, then it melted, then a bunch, and it rained, but now there is more. Shot in-between.

I was going to work in Odenton, MD, this week when something caught my eye. There was a gondola (NOKL 320811) parked at the former site of Nevamar. The plant had shut down in 2002 and the property was bulldozed in 2012. The gon is locked up inside the gate on the west side of the switch. I guess they are preparing to remove more scrap or perhaps BGE is getting ready to disassemble the power site on the property. I would love to have caught the move by NS, especially if they brought a six axle around the curve by the old W B&A building. My gut tells me it probably happened in the wee hours though. I also heard that Unilever has shut down in Baltimore at the Filbert switch. Here is a poor shot of the gondola:

Plenty a little to the east...

How frequent is that potash route- weekly?

It's not daily, but since the first 730 arrived in Montreal at first light on Feb 19, two more have run. The third was on Wed, Mar 2. So looks like ~one per week. The bulk of the empties go back on 305 out of Moncton, with 102 empties making up the tail of 305 over the Kingston Sub Mar 3. Big trains.

CN 148 over the Kingston Sub today was reported as 212 platforms.
