MTL has done some really neat head end cars lately and I do thank them for them. I have purchased a number of the new cars for my 1920ish New Haven collection. Barring someone starting to offer similar sized wood cars(70+ ft wood cars ran on NH until at least WWII) I would love to see a baggage smoker. This pic is from the Sweetland Liljestrand book but these types of cars are on so many consists I have pictures of from the era. In lots of cases local passenger trains were a baggage smoker and two coaches. For small pikes a baggage smoker and one coach would make for a semi-realistic consist. Pulled by a 2-6-0 or a 2-8-0 it would be a great addition to the what MTL has already made for us. [ Guests cannot view attachments ]

I have previously posted a suggestion that a combine would be useful/essential for a small layout or branch line l but to no avail - so far.

As to whether it should be single or double windowed? Don't lets go there!

Always hopeful for a solarium too................

Perhaps the real question is- how will it look in circus colors?

Given that I think MT has found a pretty good market for its baggage and mail baggage cars, I would not be at all surprised to see a baggage-coach  -smoker -lounge.  And I haven't figured out how, but NH modelers seem to be doing rather well lately, what with FL-9s and Osgood Bradley coaches on the way.  So there must be a lot of them.

Personally, my preference would be the L&N version, some of which were remodeled as baggage-dorm cars and filled that role on major trains into the 1960s, or the more exotic ATSF HW baggage lounges that were remodeled for the Chief in the early 50s (more likely, I suppose, to see that as sides, or 3D print than MT, ah well).

BUT, for the time being, let's not distract them from the SINGLE WINDOW COACH.  Yes, it will be just my luck, they will make a car with only one window.

Rest assured that MT has looked at doing a baggage - coach... the question simply is when will they release it.  Still unresolved are the issues of the single window coach and I haven't seen anything on line lately to give us a clue as to what was going on there but sooner or later MT will do a combine to go with the other cars that they have.  The only real question is, "When?"

Frankly, at this point, I can live without the single window coach for a while- but if all they are going to make is paired window, I do wish they would release them in undecorated.  I could use a half dozen as cores for M&R chair cars and the coming Brass Car Sides L&N modernized cars.  Its much easier to use the undec cars since they are unassembled, not to mention being a few bucks cheaper.

Agreed that MTL will get eventually get around to doing a car (combine, etc) similar to the NH car above.

On the single window coach, I'd be happy if MTL settled on the NYC proto that Branchline (now Atlas) did in HO:

On the subject of single-window coaches, I've always thought it'd be neat to have these in N scale:

Yes these, look like they are the same as the AFT tail cars.

Do you know if there are any cars close available in N? For this and the combine?
