This is the basic cuts . However the car needs to be addressed on the other side as it has 2 logo boards . I think bisecting the car longways through the roof is harder than logo board c section . Roofwalk needs to be added . Time will tell . Oh the big in the logo needs to go as does that much extra logo board height .

I bisected the car long ways, the joint is hidden under the roofwalk that way!

My friend Michael has the artwork done but have been trying to get the best method to do the orange.  Very tough on the alps.

Is there a problem with painting the orange  and printing the white upper with the rest of the decal?

I can't believe that was 2009!  I haven't completed that car yet.  I have been waiting on decals too.  My friend Michael has the artwork done but have been trying to get the best method to do the orange.  Very tough on the alps.  I have gathered a bunch of the old 85 footers to do more conversions and the next one I do I'll try and post in progress pictures.  It basically involves cutting it into two "L" shaped pieces consisting of an end and a side with the roof attached to one of them.

If you were to use modified ends and a roof from IMRC donors, couldn't you just split the sides into two cars?  I realize this means new ladders but it seems a waste to toss what is basically two cars for one.

Actually,  what we are going to do is print the decal on a laser printer.  That way we will paint the placard white and place the decal over that.

So far I cut one logo board out , PIA . My plan is to replace the Horz slats then overlay a rib face , this way the slats have 50% less but joints . The OEM slats are .035 square , PIA also . Wanna bet my attempt to match color and sheen will be a PIA and fail as well . Beginning to think that whole vertical panels would better hide cuts and easier to weather to hide joints . The extra slats and doors could be fodder for home made stock cars and MOW flats or whatever .

This might be a good project for 3D printing.  It sounds like the kitbash is quit an involved process, there's a limited number of the 85 ft cars available, and there should be enough NP modelers to make the cars profitable.  I'd take a couple for my BN.
