Golly, driving by a local cement plant, just saw dozens of these in a row, just waiting to be loaded......as if IM put them there as advertising.  Too dark to photograph or I would have posted pix, but this is a good model choice by IM for us modern modelers.

Good choice indeed - they're everywhere.  I just pre-ordered 18. :)

Wonder if I'll get my chopped up 5161 done before these hit shelves.

Looks like you got a 6 month extension to finish this project before they release their models.  I saved my email from LHS when I preorderd that had the original flyer included.  Release date was marked Aug/Sept.  Just checked their Upcoming release page, they are now marked for February  :x

One good thing though, while on the Upcoming release page, I checked on the SD40-2's.  They are still marked Aug/Sept.     Only problem I see is the page update says July 16, 2016 .   :? :? :?

February next year. Given their recent history. That would be way too optimistic. They haven't even had an N scale release in at least.....3-4 months?

Interesting to note, the undec model still shows Aug/Sept.  And 4650 hopper shows July as the decorated models show March.  They probably just missed the undec's when they updated site, but that would be awesome if I could get some undec 4650's.

These now are showing delivery date of April.  With a page update of June 6, 2017.  So we have to wait another 10 months ?  After already waiting 9 months of delays after 9 months of waiting from initial announcement and delivery date ?       Come on IMRC !   :x :x :x

And I figured I'd check on the 5161's as I have some of those ordered as well.  Originally scheduled for July/August, they are now marked January......

This has been the way Intermountain has worked since they started selling assembled cars... I look at the announcements as nice things I may want and don't get excited till product is in the stores...  :D

Most likely they found out another company was looking to do the car and they announced early, even though they had done little work on the model.

And people wonder why there is reluctance to place advance reservations?

I always thought that there is no money exchanged or any forced commitment to buy the announced model. If that model is delayed or canceled it will only cause disappointment. No monetary loss is incurred.

I'm not out any money, just disappointed .  I had seen the 3281's were delayed until August, but didn't see they were pushed back again another 8 months.   :x :x :o

I've gone online to a few places that require 10% but I was also looking at HO items so not sure if they did that on their N offerings or not. Most in N seem to be as you indicated with no money exchanged,

My concern is having a  bunch of things randomly arrive the same month and then explain a $500 BLW charge on the "house" credit card...

GaryHinshaw:  They ran ONE ad a few years ago for the early 4650 3 bay Center Flow, with the horizontal rib.  I've never seen another ad, or any of the cars.  I would have bought at least a dozen of those, as the GN, NP, and BN used them in grain service.

I honestly don't understand this company and have pretty much given up hope of seeing any of these cars come to light, too bad as they have the 4650s the 4785 PS2 CDs  and the 50' hy cubes held captive, hope someone else decides to do them. Like I said if you want pre orders you have to deliver the goods if not it becomes the boy that cried wolf type thing and people start to ignore their announcements.
